What are songs/music you loved as a child and still love to this day?
WOW! I forgot about those! I love them! One I always liked was LITTLE EGYPT by THE COASTERS.
“She Walks! She Talks! She caw-rawls on her belly like a reptile!”
Love Potion Number 9! Is that the version in which the last verse is ...
“It may seem strange but I’m going back again. And Get myself a bottle of Love Potion Number 10!”
And Who can forget THE EVERLY BROTHERS’ TEMPTATION!
Thank you TomGuy. They sure had some talent! Buck and Roy...Grandpa and all those performers that rolled through every week. What a treasure of Americana.
Here it is! 2001 probably isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s a classic and considered one of the greats. It’s one of my favourite sci-fi movies.

And I know what you mean about getting sidetracked! Happens to me ALL the time.
Glad someone is helping the Christians. Terrible mess. Think this ISIS lot is worse than Al Qaeda. Makes one wish for the “good” old days of Saddam.
Nice song! Not sure if I’m familiar with this or not. She sure is pretty on the cover.
My dad had a Reel-to-Reel deck, he purchased a tape from American Airlines which had a sampler of all of the A&M artists from that era: Herb Alpert, Sergio Mendes and Brasil 66, Antonio Carlos Jobim, etc. I used to play that all the time as a kid, loved it.
Oh, yeah, and it also had Wes Montgomery on it, what a magic sound he produced, especially on his version of “Windy.” I didn’t even know at that time he’d already passed on.
:)
Judy Collins “Amazing Grace” is excellent.

and
“Send in the Clowns” [reminds me of politicians at times.]

All great stuff.
Anything by Sinatra and Count Basie.
Boy does that date me! But it as all good and you could understand the words and dance to it too.
I like Big Rock Candy Mountain too, but look into what the song is about...kinda gross.
Mack the Knife Bobby Darin
Rebel Rouser Duane Eddy
The theme from Bonanza.
Once upon a time, kids had Bugs Bunny cartoons every Saturday morning for that...
I wondered how long it would take until someone got around to “The Lion Sleeps Tonight.” As a boy, I used to go downtown (in Atkinson, IL) and hang around one of the local bars waiting for someone to play it on the jukebox. That was in 1961, I think. After a while they quit playing it. I gathered my courage and went into the bar one afternoon and asked the bartender what they did with old records. As it turned out, he had a stack of them behind the bar and sold me the single for 10 cents. I think it was the first record I ever owned.
yay so I’m not the only one who loves music from the 1800s.
