Ooooohhhh! How terribly frightening! I'm way too scared to ever smoke again. Not MURDEROUS DICTATORS!

Good to see such spontaneous mockery. It just goes to show, that you can take the monkey out of the jungle, but you can't take the jungle out of the monkey. :)

At the fundamental level of human interaction, we are all just little more than hooting apes. We instinctively know this.

I’ve seen may users who are of the “loser class” you describe. How many “losers” do we read about in the Hollywood crowd? Michael Phelps got censured for smoking pot when he was contemplating training again for the next Olympics. I’ve seen too many of high school acquaintances amount to nothing who were into the pot and booze culture.

I understand that a few folks here and there can exert enough control not to be mastered by pot, or alcohol. I understand quite a few flirt here and there and decide after puking their brains out they will never touch a joint again....and they don’t.

I think the news article of the 14 year old boy who bragged about killing dozens of innocent people while being a mule of a Mexican drug cartel put me personally against even the modest use of illegal drugs. I do get the “legalization” arguments but I also can’t get out of my head the image of a stuffed Teddy Bear brought in by the lesbian room mate who stared wide eyed and scared, who then quickly slipped out after leaving it next to the female patient comatose and ventilated...whose body went into total shut down despite being on a cvvh machine(a longer gentler version of hemodialysis machine for folks in septic shock. We couldn’t get the potassium out of her fast enough and her total CK went into the thousands. The long suffering family decided to take her off life support after seeing her in this same state a third time too many. Pot, crack, and heroin had been her only life, with 4 kids from 4 strangers she had serviced to support her addiction. When I came in the next night, she had finally died...and of the Teddy Bear....I saw it in a trash can outside of her room, with “made in China” stenciled on it’s tag!

Or perhaps Gargantua...that’s just so much “cucky poo” to you!

California money from their new inter state immigrants. It's also why the state is trending Left.

Or gas and oil money and the industries and business that depend upon or support gas and oil.

I keep seeing the wasted shattered lives, dodging the blows of the psychotic drug addled patients and on occasion sending bodies to the morgue.

Sarah Brady has the same claim of authority to talk about gun control. Can you explain why we should listen to you, but not her?

Did somebody say "cognitive dissonance"?

A cost cutting measure is effective only if the total of ALL costs is reduced?

Laz I have no doubt you could have gently tamed that wild beast with your humourous stories, songs from your harp and sung with your best dulcet tone of voice, and just by your soothing presence. I was stuck with having to use several strong men, restraints and a very generous dose of GEODON to calm that savage man.(we replaced the foley cath to tamponade the urethral bleeding... the damage looked worse than it really was....the bladder was fine...his wee wee was going to be sore for a few days!)

Good that you agree it should not be legalized. :)

I prefer the form of freedom that is based upon individual responsibility, with individuals accepting the consequences for their own actions, over the police state that regulates freedom and mandates "state accepted" human behaviors and can then violate the Bill of Rights whenever it feels so justified.

I am well familiar with what Libertarians claim to believe. It is an ever present tendency in them to disregard any consequences for these beliefs that is not instantly and proximately causal to injuries sustained. They simply ignore the damage to others.

Too bad we've failed at regulating our need to regulate, control and criminalize based upon the whims and loud voices of a few.

If only it were about people's desire to regulate. I know Libertarians constantly assert that it is, but as I said earlier, they constantly disregard any proof that it isn't. They simply will not acknowledge that the pursuit of certain indulgences harm other people.

Fwiw, I don't label myself as being a libertarian, though I did call myself a Christian libertarian briefly until the label was altered, like so many other definitions are these days, and stopped defining what I believed.

They simply will not acknowledge that the pursuit of certain indulgences harm other people.

That is a rather broad statement or accusation that doesn't seem to be supportable nor discussable without specifics.

If you are about attempting to create a risk-free world/society where no one can harm you, either intentionally or unintentionally, I'm certain I don't want to share it with you.

That sort of "Utopia" is not for me. Others throughout history have tried to create such a thing and it's always turns into a Beast.

Personally, I think we are here in "Schoolhouse Earth" to learn and sometimes we learn best from the good, bad and ugly examples of others.

Sometimes accidents happen, too, even to people who are not under the influence of anything other than life itself.

All part of the lesson plan.

Nobody is talking about creating a "risk-free" world/society. We are talking about maintaining an existing functional society as opposed to letting it take a poison pill.

Of course, the way things have been going socially, perhaps a poison pill is exactly what we need. If I am of any divided mind about the legalization of drugs, this is the argument that seems most compelling in favor of it.

In my thinking, it is no accident that Drugs, Homosexuality, Destruction of Marriage and government spending us into poverty are all occurring at this point in history. They are simply different aspects of the same underlying cause.

I looked up some images of the human brain on Yahoo and came across one that belonged to a VERY heavy drinker. It was so bad that I recoiled in horror when I saw it. It looked like it had been dropped on the floor and kicked around or punted like a football. It was discolored and the veins were purple.

I’ve never really understood the appeal of alcohol. I used to have a drink now and then but I stopped because of the meds I take.

These college students who get drunk to the point of passing out are really asking for it.

We need to fence off Colorado and send all drug users to live there.

Come and get me keyboard warrior.

Bring the gun grabbers with you. Ammo is still hard to find; I would prefer to make my point only once.
