Nine days before the bow of Universals Fifty Shades Of Grey, insiders are predicting that the film is on track to open to $60M over four days, with a huge bounce on Valentines Day.
Given how the studio specifically positioned the film over the holiday to capitalize on the mega date night, the question among insiders is whether Fifty Shades is a couples film or a girls night (a la when Warner Bros released Sex And The City to $57M in late May 2008). One rival distribution chief believes that young women will hook their boyfriends into seeing Fifty Shades Of Grey, while older women will go in groups.

It will open strong, and then like most men the follow through will be horrible.
I know a guy who gets copies of recently-released films from a co-worker (torrent downloads, I assume). His wife has been frowning on this activity, stating that she thought it was stealing and generally enjoying holding the moral high ground.
She was, of course, correct - until she started asking her husband about *this* movie. Asking specifically if he could get a copy. Repeatedly.
Naturally, this piqued my friend's curiousity and he did some research. Now he's planning to spring the movie on his wife during family movie night with the kids (feigning ignorance, of course), just to see how she reacts.
Apparently women want it rough in the bedroom...
CRIPES! My wife forced me to watch Pride And Prejudice with her while she was home sick and I actually liked it so much I read the Book. But this crap is no Jane Austen. What the hell is wrong with women today? This is nothing but BDSM on the big screen.
Damn it. I was hoping American Sniper got a fourth weekend at number 1. Why can’t this movie be released late summer. Now American Sniper will be number 2. UGH!
In a world where the feminists complain about glass ceilings and a war on women, they will flock to see a story where a super rich guy seduces a poor college grad into a BDSM relationship.

I’ll vote for choice #3: Disgusting perversion.
And that she is a pervert.
My wife refuses to see it or read the book. She hates the idea that so many people are attracted to this and no longer seem to believe in modesty or humility.
In addition, we also have to be hyper vigilant to switch channels when the ads or clips of the movie are shown on TV so that our young kids don’t see some of this very embarrassing stuff.
Doesn’t look any worse than 9 and 1/2 weeks
Folks don’t like it don’t go see it
Big difference. Lady Chatterly’s lover involved a forbidden affair. This filth involves degenerate sexual activity.
Your friend must not think much of his poor children.
NO!
This guy is an idiot. He has a wife who might be interested in spicing up their sex life, whether we agree with how, and he instead going to embarrass her in front of the kids. He is toast. And I would agree with whatever she decides to do. What a tool.
His kids are in high school, but he doesn’t intend to actually show the movie - just see his wife’s reaction. As for that, well, I warned him. Some people have an odd, almost cruel way of joking around with their spouses. They definitely have a tempestuous relationship, so maybe this is part of their usual dance.
Quite a generalization there.
I’m in agreement with your wife.
Apparently, the first 49 shades don’t count...
