I truly hope that none of our tax dollars are being pi$$ed away “studying” this “phenomenon”.

Cats realize that it is only in the confines of the box that they may find true freedom. That, or they’re goofy.

Our cat likes boxes, but he is just as likely to pee in one as play in it.

"The most popular is that cats are instinctively drawn to boxes because they offer security and shelter from predators while they stalk their prey."
That would have been my uneducated guess. I wonder how much money the scientists spent on this, and why they aren't spending their time on something more important.

Why do bears like caves? Why did early humans like caves? Why do current humans like houses?
It's good to have a warm and defensible place to sleep in.

Years ago, my Granny would make Tea Cakes for me to take home. I loved to eat them and would ration them, so how the cat got one of them away from me I don't know.
I noticed 'Sam' was batting something around on the hardwood floor, chase it and then hit it across the room. When I picked it up it was a Tea Cake... He didn't eat it , just liked the way it smelled.....
