Have you ever run across couples who want to tell you were pregnant?
Its part of the gender neutrality, everyone is the same, there is no difference between men and women, nonsense.

I like it when a couple says that. It shows togetherness and partnership in the whole (lifelong) event.

pregnant pause. A "pregnant pause" is one which is filled with something, which is going to deliver something significant.

Exactly. It’s that long moment of silence while your teenager contemplates the answer that’s least likely to lead to his sitting on the curb with all his worldly goods.

Yes. You’re both expecting. You are not both pregnant.

I stand corrected, the source was not a feminazi diatribe against men, but I still take some issue with the notion "men should not say ..." whether it comes from the right or left.
I can express myself any way I damn please.
Even if I have not used that phrase myself, I don't like the restriction.
I agree, "We're expecting" makes sense and is truthful, "We're pregnant" [with the same child] is biologically impossible.

"Were expecting might make more sense. She's expecting a child.
I'm expecting to run from the state and change identities.

How is this about equality? Like I said, I don’t have an issue with it but I still believe it in incorrect English. I was pregnant... my husband and I were expecting a child. Sheesh...

I still take some issue with the notion "men should not say ..." whether it comes from the right or left.So do I. However, you don't get an article published with the concept, "I don't particularly like it when people say ...". It's got a be a rant about how terrible it is that people blahblahblah and it proves they're yadda yadda.
This author is a right-wing man. Funny thing, how a right wing man can say things other men don't agree with, isn't it?

Yep. I don't have to agree with everything just because he's right wing. It's part of civilized dialogue.
It's great how right wing men (and women) can disagree without resorting to name calling. Unlike the left...

No kidding. A guy came to me for counseling and said, “We had an affair.” I said, “You mean, you and your wife had simultaneous affairs?” He said, “Well, no, I had an affair.”

I can’t say about all marriage ceremonies are this way, but, many say something about ‘when a man and a woman become one’.
I know that’s how I feel about my wife, that we are one and the same person.

A man can say “we’re pregnant” as long as he is consistent and says “we’re ovulating”, “We’re menstruating”, “we’re menopausal”, “We love our hot flashes”.
I rather hear a man say “I knocked up the old lady” than hear a man say that he’s pregnant.
“We’re expecting a baby” is the correct term. It makes a man sound like a father and not like some idiot who fakes what the pregnant lady is going through.

Proper response :
“We’re pregnant”
“Really ? Both of you “ ??

I always thought the phrase sounded odd, but to be “Pregnant” means to be “waiting (for childbirth).” So it’s accurate.

You didn’t get up all hours in the morning to get your wife snacks, or give backrubs, or use up your vacation days from work to stay home and vacuum, do dishes or paint the baby’s room yet another color, or use your lunch time at work to run to your mother-in-law’s to pick up something your wife “has to have,” ....
I suppose I should stop. I’m getting dizzy.
