President Barack Obama claimed on Monday that without a comprehensive budget covering the Department of Homeland Security, more than 130,000 mission-critical employees will be forced to work without pay by the end of the month.
They include 40,000 employed by Customs and Border Protection, 50,000 Transportation Security Administration screeners, 13,000 Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents and 40,000 Coast Guard personnel.
Pay would be restored at the end of any withholding period.
'I know how vital you are, and I want to make sure more Americans know how vital you are,' Obama told an auditorium full of DHS employees Monday the department's headquarters, as the White House rolled out his $4 trillion budget request for 2016.
In addition, it's likely that 4,000 people who work for the Secret Service will see paychecks on hold if Obama doesn't strike a deal with Republicans in Congress.

Just think: If all the Congress paid was the Veterans and the Senior Citizens, look at all the money this country could save....and all those POOR government workers would have to go out and work at McDonalds, Burger King, Artic Circle, Wendys, how sad that would be....they can’t do anything else better that’s why they get rich off of us by pencil pushing....Shut the Government Down and lets save some money!!!!!!
You're forgetting something important: there is no difference between Republican and Democrat, therefore there is no reason for the useless Democrat
qualifier.

This is the hammer socialist always pullout of their tool box when they don’t get want they want.
In California, anytime there is even a hing of budget restraint we are told it would be police, fire and medical they will be cut first.
The sad truth is we as a nation are traveling at light speed towards a canyon and the bridge is out. Pouring more fuel to the engine will only allow us to fly out further from the cliff face before crashing into the canyon floor.
If I had a vote, I would say go ahead Mr. Obama. Give the American people a look at what are world will look like when the financial crash occurs.
We should call this bluff. The last thing Obama wants is to see how well we can do without these Homeland Security people harassing us at every turn. Imagine getting back to Washington after a weekend in Vancouver without the four hour plus wait at the “Peace Arch”.
Defund it all.

Actually, we are already over the cliff and quickly gaining speed towards the bottom.
He will just have the FAA declare that no passenger may board without going through TSA screening. No TSA = no flights.
50,000 use TSA agents gone is a good thing. The only difference you would see is people moving along faster in the lines and not being harassed and sexually assaulted along the way.
As far as the border patrol they have orders not to stop anybody anyway so whats the big loss?

OK. Doesnt seem like most of them are doing anything anyway.
Although, when it comes to government cuts, there are very few places to cut without shutting down EBT, Social Security, or defaulting on our interest payments.
Personally, I would love them to take the discretionary budget and cut it by 2% a year for 5 years. 2% should be easy. Freeze new capital expansion, except for replacement of unrepairable assets for 2 years.
It would suck for a couple of years. But we will be amazed at how effective our government would become.
Or it will burn down.
One way or the other, it HAS to get smaller.
Frankly, given what I’ve seen and know about DHS, I’m struggling to find some reason to find that 150,000 of these goons not getting their paychecks is a ‘downside.’

DHS has the same headcount as the USMC and TWICE their budget...!
Fire them all, should not exist.
I’m growing weary of these idle threats. Do it! Shut it down. What we’ve got isn’t working so can firing a whole mess of teat suckers really be all that bad? Let’s see.
