I'm working on a print job for someone who happens to know I have a fairly decent laser printer o'er there on the shelf. Nothing fancy - it's a newsletter - 3 pages duplexed (6 printed pages) and she wants it on 28# paper which comes in 300 page instead of 500 page reams. Anyway, she wants 150 copies so that takes 1 1/2 reams to print.
I got through 138 copies and ran out of the 28# paper. I sent her an email informing her of this issue and mentioned that I could finish the last 12 copies on 24# paper (which I have) if she wanted else I would need to run out later to see if Wallyworld has what she wants in stock. If the Walmartians don't have it she will need to wait while I order some more because Staples price for the same thing is double what Wallyworld charges.
The only way I can do this for what she's paying me is if I avoid buying at retail. My source online is $7/ream and free shipping, Wallyworld is $9/ream and Staples is $19/ream. (And Heaven forbid that I run out of toner - Staples wants $190 for a 'genuine HP' cartridge but EBay is consistantly half that for HP and around $50 if I'm willing to use 'compatable'.) If I have to buy paper or toner at Staples I will end up printing her newsletter for less than free.
Sort of like Wash DC and the deficit spending..
And on that note I'm out of here. Tomorrow's project if it quits raining - actually today's project since it's tomorrow now - is put-the-rebuilt-carburetor back in the Redriding Thing.. and then see if it starts and reveals more damage.
wow.
“Redriding thing” lol
