Yes.
Sometimes you can alter the appearance of the miniature using filler putty and paint.
I did that once, but goofed up a little on my exacto work.

I hear ya. Way back as a child, taken with Cryano’s “I’ll give you three feet of tempered steel”, I tried to transform a Pinocchio figure. Needle worked for the sword but changing his shorts, well...there’s just some things a ten year old boy won’t do.
