I just re-joined FR and I would like to post to my local NC state board but I am not able to. How do I get the ability to do that?
That’s such a pretty shade of blue...
LOL!!!
Note the fur on the pristine white bedding. You have to wonder what people are thinking ...
Not just gubmint. When we moved from a low-regulation state to a high-regulation state HSLDA arranged an open (but not all-participating) meeting to present their findings that regulation didn’t have any impact on home schooling. The only proponent of keeping the regulations was a person who had managed to make a bunch of money off the current system.
He even said if the high-regulation state were to lower its regulations then home schooling would become a “Statue of Liberty” for JDs.
We had been warnd that we were invited to listen but not participate, but I wanted to say, “What parent WANTS their kid to be a JD? And if there were such a parent, why would he go to the trouble of home schooling when the government propaganda machine did such a good job of churning out JDs without nearly so much parental effort?”
One woman did opine to me that she was concerned about the HS Diploma issue. I asked her when was the last time she ever had to show anyone her HS diploma. She couldn’t think of a time.
It’s not the gubmit, it’s the stupid sheeple.
The military used to require a diploma or a GED, and then they wouldn’t accept anything but the diploma. Then I heard they were accepting GEDs again.
I didn’t graduate but it never stopped me.
The military only demands those kinds of things when there are more applicants than slots.
You can fly fighter with glasses, but demanding 20/20 vision or better to be accepted into Pilot Training limits the candidates to a manageable pile.
That part I knew, because I wanted to join the air force and fly but was myopic since 2nd grade, and it got worse as the years went by. Of course, when I wanted to be a pilot, women were not allowed to fly in the air force.
Since having cataract surgery, I see very well at a distance but need glasses for reading and the computer.
So I’m still in glasses! LOL!
That’s probably it, but I knew about the women during WWII.
I just knew that my poor eyesight was going to prevent me from a lot of thing. And my astigmatism was horrendous...different direction in each eye!
By poor eyesight you mean you couldn’t hit a fly off a pig’s back unless it was closer than 200 yards?
How’s the dog?
By poor eyesight I mean that if I forgot where I put my glasses, I had to find them before I could look for them. My dog hid them, once.
It was almost a week before my mother convinced him it would be a good idea to go get them so I could go back to school. He went and got them a while later and dropped them at her feet.
True story.
We met some of those women pilots at an aviation museum in Oklahoma. They were in their late 70s or 80s then. One lady talked about meeting some Russian women, after the war, who had been real combat pilots.
My meeting at church has been postponed, so I don’t have to go out again. We were supposed to have the back of the house powerwashed this afternoon, but that’s been rescheduled until Monday.
Today would be my father’s 79th birthday.
The first year is the hardest, T-c.
The wind is blowing and it’s been overcast all day, and the arthritis in my right ankle is really bothering me. I was hoping the weight loss would help that.
The good thing is that I lost the five pounds I put on right after my birthday.
Hey, excellent news!
The kids and I went to Mass.
I finally got the BB SUV taken care of, and if I can swing it on the next payday, I will get the plates changed. I should get a “refund” from the current registration, which means it may cost me nothing, but I want to be prepared. The initial registration for the “Classic Rod” classification is $35 the first year, then about $12 each year after that.
That extra $20+ that I have to pay out for this laptop was a little more difficult to handle than I thought it would be. There is still something going on with it, but I will take it to my friend on Monday and have him look at it. It should be a simple fix. I just don’t know how to do it.
It feels so good to have a fan blowing on me...except for my hair...it tickles my face. I need a haircut, but I’m pretty leery of the local haircutters!
You could get a do-rag.
Frank just showed up boasting of an official, Band-aid worthy injury to his hand. It appears he fell down.
If he’d been at home, he probably would have just got soap and water and a kiss, rather than an Incredible Hulk bandaid.
Which may explain why he was away from home when the injury occurred to his hand...it was much more fun to do it and get a Band-aid....
I use combs in my hair or a clip, but my hair is so fine and these days, so thin, that it dries in no time and is pretty fly-away with any air movement.
It used to be so thick and long that I had to set it on Friday night if I had a date on Saturday. Oh to be young again!
Now he has it wrapped in a towel, too. What a ham.
Milking the situation for all he can get! LOL!
