I just re-joined FR and I would like to post to my local NC state board but I am not able to. How do I get the ability to do that?

Close. It’s Aaron’s, so I have a year to turn it back in. However, at this point, it does me no good because I can’t access the files on the 3TB slave, or print anything out.
Useless as... nevermind.

If you have the system-back-to-factory-settings DVDs (or a recovery space on your HDD) you can give that a whirl. Do that, put on WSE, let it update, and it should print and see the external drive just fine.
And, of course, you can always do that before you ask for any warranty help because they’ll never know you blew the OS away and put it back.

It won’t let me get back to factory settings. I tried to do that to get rid of the anti-virus program they gave me and I couldn’t remove it.
I could try it again, but I’m afraid it will reinstall the anti-virus because it won’t let me recover back far enough.

No DVD’s for that...just the recovery system in the laptop.

These should wipe the hard drive clean out and re-install the same way the vendor did when they built the machine. Step 1: format the hard drive. After that, nothing can stop it.

Hokie. It looks like HP puts a HP Reovery Manager application on your harddrive. When you open that, one of the options should be Factory Reset. So, if all else fails you can do that, nuke all the work you’ve done to this point, and start over without any junk installed.
If that bad boy can’t print or open your external drive after you’ve done that, it’s not a laptop, it’s a doorstop.
And you can tell it I said so.

I sort of pictured an old Alice In Wonderland-style time keeper stuffing a bunch of watches in his pockets, but those look good.
