OK, I will have to admit to not having even read the “Why Americans should care about the British elections” articles.

Is this good? I sort of like seeing the Scots take seats, but just because. I have no basis for knowing if that is good or bad for the commonwealth.

The only real difference is that the Conservatives know that just because there are blank cheques left in the book it doesn't mean that there is money in the account.
Tony Blair (Lab) didn't spend much, so Gordon Brown (Lab) thought the blank cheques where usable,Duh!

Nice thought ,but doesn't work quite like that.
The Conservative and Labour MPs that served in Scotland where Scottish and had Scotland at heart.
They have elected in a bunch of free spending Fascists.
It will be their money they spend like water, not ours.
Sad to see a great nation behave like petulant children.
Most people don't realise the depth of autonomy that Wales ,Scotland and N'Ireland actually have.
They set their own Taxes and Make their own laws.
They have far more say in the running of England than England does in them.
Scotland was the driving force behind the handgun ban in E,S,W...speaks volumes.
They are independent in all but a rubber stamp.

Oh, is that it? I didn’t realize your Conservatives are what we call “budget hawks.” Our Republicans increase spending almost as madly as the Democrats.
