I just re-joined FR and I would like to post to my local NC state board but I am not able to. How do I get the ability to do that?
Will try.
You don’t need to be good with the science stuff. You can write a story that focuses on characters. The character might not know how the proton laser works, but he can pull the trigger.
As for publishing...
of the 3 main SF magazines, Analog is the one that wants real science involved the most. Asimov’s and Science Fiction & Fantasy aren’t as fickle about it. Asimov’s wants character and SF&F wants adventure.
That is on top of an animation idea titled “the cookie thief” where a tiny prototype rabbitoid is snuffling around, finds the cookies, and has to find a way to get them.
Amazon is having a script writing contest or something, the winner will get made apparently!
Ostensibly, (which is a word that means we're making this up, but pretending it's all real), where we are as we interact is on a strange collection of space-going Habitats that are linked together and rotating around a common axis.
This rotation provides us with artificial gravity, so that things like toilets will work properly. (And so our Castle doesn't come apart as its stones drift away from each other. -- That would be ... bad.)
The Flying Castle is one of the Habitats. It is a structure we built way back when we were still walking around on the freshly paved carcass of j.j.fate. It is the venerable home of the undying Undead Thread, and it flies because we had to avoid running into the barrier of the End of the Internet, which is similar to Captain James T. Kirk's Barrier at the edge of the Galaxy, except that it is more mathematically certain to exist.
Our Flying Castle ended up floating in Loch Ness. While there we stocked up on beer and decided for some reason to go into space and visit Mars. (You have a lot of reading to catch up on, or to ignore like the rest of us.)
I look toward your building every time I drive through Glen Burnie. Are you still in there?
Ostensibly I like your definition of Ostensibly.
But how can you tell the difference between a strange collection of space-going Habitats and not so strange collection of space-going Habitats. The normal is pretty strange. As is using pretty as adjective for strange.
‘
I think a not-so-strange collection would look as though it were always intended to be joined together, and not simply strung with connecting cables and tubes like a haphazard macrame or dream-catcher.
Maybe later, when the bridge connectors are in place, and the mountains of dry ice and frozen ammonia are wedged in position, but that will take thousands of years — oh, did I say that out loud?
No,no...
Because of climate change the rising oceans will become a slurpee of ammoniated dry ice in twenty years tops...
We're all gonna dye.
The science has settled.
..as quoted in the Fourth Book of Goreon Chapter 6 verse 66..
My life is fiction.
That would be a good caption for new eggs in a carton, with scenes of Easter Egg coloration going on in the background.
Dye kits are on clearance now.
Kevorkian misjudged the market.
I hope that phone isn’t set to vibrate mode and someone calls it.
Hey, I got that!
He’s got his pillow, his lamp, and his electrical outlet - great setup.
Have you noticed that cat pictures usually indicate the people have no furniture worth mentioning?
Checking in. Rough night. And I think it’s going to be a rougher day. I will be driving in Friday Traffic. UNNNGHH!
lol
