I just re-joined FR and I would like to post to my local NC state board but I am not able to. How do I get the ability to do that?

It was a sideways response, but mostly, I’d just remembered that we’d been talking yesterday about who recorded the song. I thought it was the Doors, Elen didn’t know, and a guy I asked at church had it mixed up with “When I’m 64” by the Beatles.

Miz Jane is a doll. Our old WW leader called her “G.I. Jane,” because she would talk about all the work she does on the farm. You just have to be healthy!

I’m glad Sparkle is amused by the carrier. Jake and Shannon have to be mobbed by a crowd and crammed into theirs.

In any standard plot, letting your clone know of your existence is a way to motivate it to kill you.

Why this is so eludes me. Why would your copy want to kill you, when the “copy” that is you wanted to create another?

But, supposedly, it wants to replace you and become the real person; in the end there can be only one.

It’s nonsense, of course, because writers don’t understand people or even semi-cardboard people like clones. If writers understood people, they wouldn’t be writers, they would be lovers.

Oh pshaw. I want to know how the cloner figured out how to stop the sped up growth process so that the clone came out at the same age as the cloner.

I will be able to go where you want to take me but I reserve the right to be obstinate and cantankerous!

*joke*

I suspect after this first excursion, Sparkle with look upon the carrier as an anathema...However, I will bribe her with the BIG White Rat...

Hey! I was supposed to ask that question! LOL!

Hiya, MHG, Sir! How are you this evening/night?

I’m thinking about some BBQ beans? Got any quick recipes?

(And how are you doing?)

Bush’s Original, with a sprinkle of Bean-O, a 1/4 green pepper and a sweet onion, all heated up in a pot and eaten with a nice piece of yeast bread or a large yeast roll.

Don’t you use mason jars to can with?
Why do the they call it canning when they use jars?
Can the masterManson tell me about canning?
Oh, I guess not, the masterManson has been canned.
I wonder if the admins used a mason jar?

"I want to know how the cloner figured out how to stop the sped up growth process so that the clone came out at the same age as the cloner."

That's actually the least of the problems.

Clones start from an aged group of cells. They're already senescing.

The challenge is to transfer memories. How do you do that?

If you can create clones, you should have advanced enough knowledge to control their age, in which case, you should be able to control your own, and you won't need a clone.

Oh give me a clone, a clone of my own,
but why would I need even that?
Just make younger cells,
and when the thing gels,
I'll take a long swim in the vat!

Um, I was being a smart aleck, but it is already possible to clone a human being yet we have not a clue how the soul is interwoven with the living body.

Dang, Dude!

I’m going to add some brown sugar, onion and green pepper to the mix and see what happens in the morning. It will give me time to go to Walmart and get something yeasty!

"I was being a smart aleck, but it is already possible to clone a human being yet we have not a clue how the soul is interwoven with the living body."

It's a question I asked, at that very moment of decision, but without any answers to know or tell.

He didn’t feel as though he were dying. In this youthful body, it was impossible to feel anything but boundless energy and hope for a long future. He looked at the shriveled carcass of the man he had once been. A body that had served him well through decades of storms and torments of all kinds, but which had, as it must, eventually failed him.

He could not help but feel that it was like a vehicle. He remembered briefly old cars and trucks that he had owned. They had all served him faithfully, or reluctantly, but they had all had to be discarded, some with more regret than others.

Where was his regret? Where were the tears that marked him as being abandoned and orphaned in a hostile world?

It was a question like asking, where are the keys to the new vehicle? The question, like he, was bereft of emotion. Was he more computer than human already?

He looked into Angelina’s face. His mother’s face. She wept openly, soundlessly. He thought about the tenderness she had always shown him, in his former body and in this one, and he suddenly felt sympathy for her loss. He knew that she could not really accept that his mind, his essence, his soul had moved on and was safe and comfortable in her arms.

He felt the tears begin, and roll softly down his cheeks.

Whatever emptiness of soul he had, whatever loss there may have been in its transference, he felt sorry for this gallant woman who was losing the father of her child, and who faced a future of unknown challenges. His mother was hurting, and he was hurting too.

First, put down the cheese.
Second, step out of the shower.
Third, step away from the moose (they bite).
Next, say “all your base are belong to us” 3 times.
Vote ‘not guilty’ for belly girl.

After that, you are half way there...

Right, because it starts with the first line of Asimov's clone song, which was based on that.

The Clone Song

By: Isaac Asimov

Tune: Home On The Range

Oh, give me a clone

Of my own flesh and bone

With its Y chromosome changed to X.

And after it's grown,

Then my own little clone

Will be of the opposite sex.

Clone, clone of my own,

With its Y chromosome changed to X.

And when I'm alone

With my own little clone

We will both think of nothing but sex.
