I just re-joined FR and I would like to post to my local NC state board but I am not able to. How do I get the ability to do that?
The problem is with getting the bot to recognize something on a visual sensor as well as make sense of what it ‘sees’ across multiple sensors.
So while it may have radar, lidar, and cameras, it doesn’t recognize the pothole as being an issue, nor does it recognize the deer or moose as being an impact threat until a certain distance is met.
In which case, the rest of the herd may have stumbled into it.
Currently there is an annoying ad for Subaru where it showcases automatic braking.
Which is only as good as the maintenance levels of the sensors.
Among other conditions.
While technology is good, it cannot completely eliminate the human element without becoming horrifically expensive.
And most people I know cannot afford the cost of robodriver.
We’ll see what happens, I guess.
Speaking of automatic braking ...
Recently on the West Side Highway a driver of a vehicle was stopped by a motorcycle gang and began to feel that he and his family were in danger.
Having limited options, he hit the gas and ran over a biker or two (I don’t remember precisely).
I wonder if automatic braking would have kept him from doing that and (possibly) saving his family’s life.
IIRC, he, himself, was beaten senseless a short time later.
Yes, autobrake would have kept him from doing that.

I’m heading over to Busdaddy’s as soon as I get Sparkle fed and watered. I hope she’ll be OK. It’s kind of iffy how long I’ll be gone. He is still sick. I couldn’t keep him down, yesterday, so I hope I can keep him down today.

I wanted to stay in my own pocket, but I had to crawl out.
Check this out: I head for Busdaddy’s because I couldn’t go back to sleep thinking of him being sick. I gather up my laundry, pack the things I need, make sure Sparkle has food and water for at least until Saturday morning, and take off on my mission of mercy.
Busdaddy went to work. He sent me a text saying he was sick, which was what woke me up, so four hours earlier than planned, I leave. Very inconsiderate of him to go earn a living while he’s sick.
I only have snacking things to eat here, so I may have to go to Walmart this morning for a couple of Smart Ones. I doubt the Mexican market down the street will have them, since they eat mostly fresh foods. The frozen section isn’t all that great.
It’s just moist enough out that there was no pollen on the windshield when I got ready to leave. But I still need to take a Benedryl along with the rest of the pills.
I’ll wait till 0700 and call the agency and tell them to cancel today’s visit. *sigh*

Tomorrow, we are going to CA to get the “new” engine, but I will probably have to stop at a fast food and get something to eat for lunch. I can only go so long on snack foods.
I will have to get a smog test for the truck soon, as my registration is due the first week of April. I’m hoping I can take care of it online. The lines at the DMV are atrocious, now. Lack of staff. The state just doesn’t learn. They need to keep everyone and cut the paychecks by 1% or so rather than put more people out of work. But then, I’m not the Gov.
They have a little café in the store, so I could think about that, but I would need cash, and I don’t have any. And there isn’t enough in the account to get it from an ATM, so I’ll just hold that thought! LOL!
Funny, but I already miss Sparkle...
