Washington, DC Newly available data for 2013 reveals that states with weak gun violence prevention laws and higher rates of gun ownership have the highest overall gun death rates in the nation, according to a Violence Policy Center (VPC) analysis of data from the Centers for Disease Control and Preventions National Center for Injury Prevention and Control.
Meanwhile, states with the lowest overall gun death rates have lower rates of gun ownership and some of the strongest gun violence prevention laws in the nation. However, even in these states the human toll of gun violence is far above the gun death rate in other industrialized nations.
The VPC analysis refers to overall gun death rates in 2013, the most recent year for which data is available. A table of the states with the five highest gun death rates and the five lowest gun death rates is below. For a list of gun death rates in all 50 states, see http://www.vpc.org/fadeathchart15.htm.
The five states with the highest per capita gun death rates in 2013 were Alaska, Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, and Wyoming. Each of these states has extremely lax gun violence prevention laws as well as a higher rate of gun ownership. The state with the lowest gun death rate in the nation was Hawaii, followed by Massachusetts, New York, Connecticut, and Rhode Island. Each of these states has strong gun violence prevention laws and a lower rate of gun ownership.
Reducing exposure to firearms and having stronger gun laws saves lives, says VPC Legislative Director Kristen Rand. Each year, the data consistently show that states with strong gun violence prevention laws and low rates of gun ownership have the lowest gun death rates in the nation. The highest gun death rates are in states with weak gun violence prevention laws and

Washington State, up until last month, had few regulations on buying or selling firearms, one can open carry without a permit, and concealed carry is “shall issue”. And we are pretty low on the list.
“They dont differentiate legally possessing a firearm from illegal possession. “
And yet the survey is supposed to be about “gun violence prevention laws”, and is clearly advocating for more such laws. A homeowner legally shooting a home invader in self-defense counts the same in this study as a gang member shooting an innocent bystander with a stolen gun.
Of course who needs laws when our legislators are just dying to give Obama “fast-track” powers to approve UN treaties?
Lies, Damn Lies and Statistics.
And we should believe ANYTHING that the Fabricated One’s admin publishes Because?
Probably from all the worthless thugs getting shot trying to rob the home of a gun owner!
Total BS study pushing a liberal agenda...again.
Don’t care!
FROM MY COLD DEAD HANDS plus what I teach the young-ins so they will carry on the FROM MY COLD DEAD HANDS attitude!
I am FTFU!!!!
Doesn’t matter what the gunshot wound victims were doing when they died. The violent gun just up and shot a random passing victim, and that’s that.
Another demonstration of how statistics can be made to support any assertion the “expert” wants to make.
People may have any opinion on the presence of guns they want, but they should not be allowed to make up their own facts.
How about “children” aged 18 to 26?
http://www.disastercenter.com/crime/uscrime.htm
These weasels are known to outright lie about the numbers they present.
I know for a fact, from years of looking at crime stats, that the murder rates are lowest in States that allow firearms with the least amount of red tape.
States and cities with the strictest gun control laws are the ones that have the highest murder and crime rates.
What these liberals want everyone to believe is that using a gun to defend yourself constitutes violent crime. If a cop shoots a bad guy, that is considered violent crime. If you use a firearm o defend yourself late at night in your home, that is violent crime.
What liberals want is like England what has: If you harm a criminal, like a liberals are, you should go to jail.
The vast majority of criminals are liberals, and liberals hate it when we shoot them.
I don’t really care either.
I was merely pointing out an additional reason why their study is stupid and bogus.
Truth be told, though, unless the 2nd Amendment is repealed, the government does not legitimately possess the power to restrict gun ownership - no matter how many statistics they cook up to “prove” how dangerous they are.
Probably, but not necessarily. This study purports to include ALL firearms-related deaths (as defined by them) not just those that are a result of crime.
That’s the con.
The “VPC” is so blatantly deceptive besides trying to put anything on the internet so gun control crazies will have something,...anything,...they can try and use to rebuff the Truth. Pathetic how they think they can just put this kind of crap out there and thinking Patriots will not debunk them. This is not 2008 where the silent Majority just sit back. This is 2015 and the resoundingly, outspoken Majority will call them out! Their lies will more likely make them look like fools they are. Here is just a splinter of information.
Anti-Gun Advocates Probably Wont Like This New CDC Report
“The study showed youth homicide rates fell across the board in males, females, whites, blacks and Hispanics. However, males and blacks continued to be killed at far higher rates than females or people in other racial and ethnic groups. The 2010 rate for blacks was nearly four times higher than the average for all youths that age.”

Guns don’t kill people; bullets do!
These guys obviously graduated with honors from the Barack Hussein Obama School of Accounting.
A regional Bill Of Rights? Screw that. And the hell with registration too. I’ll stand with the Constitution.
It's ridiculous:
So, the South Side of Chicago could be an ongoing war zone (and it is) with perhaps even a dozen people being murdered every weekend (and they are), but since the entire state of Illinois has 13 million people living there the percentage of firearm homicide fatalities per 100,000 people would be lower than a small picturesque mountain village in Austria of 1,000 residents if only one person there is murdered by a firearm.
Ergo, VPC statistics would show your chance of being a victim of a firearms-related fatality in Chicago is 8.1:100,000 yet in the tiny Austrian hamlet of Ischgl your chances rise to an alarming 1:1,000.
Only a god-blessed idiot from the Violence Policy Center would presume their own statistics show that you can safely whirl through the South Side of Chicago on a Saturday night singing the title track from Rodgers and Hammerstein's The Sound Of Music yet you're at eighty times greater risk of death by firearm in the actual location where Julie Andrews performed the opening scene for the movie The Sound Of Music.
This is how you lie with statistics. They correctly presume that Americans are too dumb to check facts and discern what statistics mean.
If they were being honest, the Violence Policy Center would just show a heat map of firearms deaths in the United States by locality. Of course, they won't do that because everyone would take one look and say "Yep, I'm hardly surprised" and go on about their day without a second thought about the mission of the VPC's anti-gun activism.
My ACME Catalogue Bullshit Detector is going nuts with this article.
I truly understand what you posted.
I’m just tired of this crap day in and day out.
We need a win on our side.
I thought it was when the republicans kicked the crap out of the left nuts things might change...and as usual the gubment has other plans and it seems it does not matter what side they are on we lose.
