William Wingate had been standing on a busy Seattle street corner in July, leaning on a golf club he uses as a cane, when a police cruiser pulled up and the officer inside yelled at Wingate to put that down.
The resulting exchange in which the officer claims that Wingate swung the club at her after she asked him to shut it down before she arrested him was captured on the cruisers dashboard camera, the footage of which Seattle Police released this week as it apologized for the 2014 incident.
The response to that video prompted Seattle Police Chief Kathleen OToole to announce Wednesday that she was ordering a comprehensive review of the officers performance during Wingates arrest and another incident. She did not name the officer, but multiple local outlets have reported her name as Cynthia Whitlatch.

Wingate has filed an administrative claim against the city for $750,000, and Mindenbergs said she is in the process of gathering public documents to prepare for a lawsuit within the next couple of weeks. The claim should be lodged against the police union pension funds.

The cop could see that based on terrain, the old fool clearly should have been using a 9 iron.

Another little tin god cop who ought to be an unarmed meter maid. Just another example of why law abiding folks are learning to hate cops.

The claim should be lodged against the police union pension funds. And against the "officer" personally.

The COP is LGBT, nothing to see here.

Back in May 1989 two Hayward cops, a rookie and her FTO, beat a blind man because they mistook his collapsible cane for a Nunchaku. They never ID’ed themselves as cops because they assumed he could see. His milky white eyes never figured in to their highly trained powers of observation.
The blind guy thought he was being mugged and attempted to ward off the batons. Once bystanders screamed that he was blind the cops id’ed themselves and everything calmed down. A big oops on the cops part.

Her ex-girlfriend cop is also a piece of work. They both are seriously ethically challenged. The LE selection process in these two agencies are more driven by affirmative action than quality.

Same Seattle officer who, in 2010, shot and killed the half-deaf tribal Indian man carving a block of wood with a small knife and not threatening anyone?
