FULL TITLE: Democrats in Congress Urged to Be 'Bold' Like Republicans With God Talk; Assert Christian Faith Supports Gov't Funding for Planned Parenthood, Welfare

WASHINGTON — The progressive, New York-based Union Theological Seminary hosted the first-ever Congressional Faith Orientation on Capitol Hill, Tuesday, which was attended by five Democratic Congress members who addressed the role religion and faith play in determining how they vote on public policies.

While it is a widely-held notion that the Republican Party is more beholden to faith and religion when it comes to integrating them in federal public policy decisions, the Democratic panel members discussed how their own religious beliefs have driven them to support policy items like welfare assistance, public funding for Planned Parenthood and criminal justice reform.

Reps. Sheila Jackson Lee, R-Texas, Emanuel Cleaver, D-Missouri, and James Clyburn, D-South Carolina, claimed that the biblical call to "feed" and "clothe" the needy, has influenced their continual advocacy for welfare assistance programs like the food stamp program, which Republicans have in the past tried to make significant cuts to.

Lee criticized the claim that the Republican Party is the only party inclined to act on faith in Congress. She asserted that the understanding of "faith in America" needs to be expanded and more tolerant to include the views of other religious beliefs and even lack of religious belief.

Matthew 26:11

"For you always have the poor with you, but you will not always have me."

Yes, Christ and His Father gave commands to look after the poor, but He never said that Big Government should tax and borrow money we don't have from Central Banks so that up to 1/4 of a nation's population sit around and take from 70+ giveaway programs.

Care for the poor is a church and individual responsibility, not one that corrupt politicians can exploit with Other People's Money.

Moreover, Christ's main message was the Gospel. These wicked Democrats care not a whit about that. They are twisting and exploiting God's word. They will pay dearly for that.

Why the Hell wasn’t Barack asked if he believed that Jesus Christ was the Son of God, died for his (Obama’s) sins, was resurrected, and is the only path to eternal salvation?

40 Mind-Blowing Quotes From Barack Hussein Obama On Islam And Christianity

#7 Obama’s response when asked what his definition of sin is: “Being out of alignment with my values.”

#8 “If all it took was someone proclaiming I believe Jesus Christ and that he died for my sins, and that was all there was to it, people wouldn’t have to keep coming to church, would they.”

#9 “This is something that I’m sure I’d have serious debates with my fellow Christians about. I think that the difficult thing about any religion, including Christianity, is that at some level there is a call to evangelize and proselytize. There’s the belief, certainly in some quarters, that people haven’t embraced Jesus Christ as their personal savior that they’re going to hell.”

#10 “I find it hard to believe that my God would consign four-fifths of the world to hell. I can’t imagine that my God would allow some little Hindu kid in India who never interacts with the Christian faith to somehow burn for all eternity. That’s just not part of my religious makeup.”

Right, but those all came out of the same interview, published once in a religious context and then shared on the web.

He needed to be confronted on the matter during the general election with the same level of media coverage that the Republicans were asked religious questions by liberal debate moderators.

Barack Obama wasn’t vetted.

Which God?

And they can’t evoke Christianity because they support everything God calls sin so that would be a lie.

It frustrates me to hear Obama talk about us as being our brothers keeper, and in a nod to women’s lib, our sisters keeper too.

The reason it frustrates me is because Obama has said he was drawn to Christianity due to tenets of Christianity such as being our brothers keeper. For him to cite a completely mangled and misunderstood interpretation of a Bible story as his inspiration for Christianity shows how little he really knows about the Bible and Christianity. But Obama is never called out on this.

I've seen how Barack treats his own half-brother. He cannot forced me to give to the charity of HIS choosing (Government redistributive welfare) AND punish those who REALLY donate to charities.

To: Morgana; All

The GOPES leadership (gop elite statists) learned nothing from 2012.They still seek approval from the media propaganda appar-rats which whey will never get. Believe winning political opposition strategy consists of their approach which is the use of “stand for status quo” “we can fix the bad stuff” with republican cum-by ya” will win in 2016. And not the defence of the constitution or of conservative values.

Do the GOPES actually believe they can attract disaffected dems and together we can continue on with big government merry way happily feeding off the government trough with a new UNI Party ? It seems that this is the direction they’re taking.

When what they should begin by asking the question why does the democrat (In name only, and GOPES fail to use many examples to point that out) lie so much ? Is because they don’t believe in there is such a thing as sin because they can’t refer to God which they threw out in their 2012 convention. Hence any reference to the constitution which has that refence to HIM all over the place. Because it doesn’t fit their socialist collective agenda.

I have yet to hear that explanation , the refusal to reference that platform resolution to remove any reference to GOD as the reason why democrats lie from any of the GOPES running the so called political opposition.

I can’t wait to hear all the pro-choice leftists in congress proclaim their Christianity. Nancy Pelosi? Unfortunately a lot of those hypocrites are so-called ‘Catholics.’

Just like Obama: “My Muslim faith . . .” (correction from George Snuffleupagus) “Yeah, my Christian faith, or whatever”. Abusing a pretense of faith is evil. Liberals disgust me.
