DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) Police confirmed that a 14-year-old relative intentionally drowned a 2-month-old child found dead Monday morning inside a South Dallas apartment. Child Protective Services had placed the infant in the home where she was killed.
The facts of the case are that the 14-year-old intentionally drowed a 2-month-old and thats the real tragedy today, said Maj. Robert Sherwin with the Dallas Police Department.
The teen is now in police custody and is being questioned. At this time, no charges have been filed.
The childs mother was at work at the time of the incident.
Around 6:15 a.m., police received a call about a child in trouble due to high water in the 8400 block of S. Westmoreland in the Red Bird area of Dallas. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the child dead.
The Dallas County Medical Examiner was called to the scene, along with Dallas Police homicide detectives.
It breaks my heart anytime you respond to a call and someone so innocent no one more innocent then an infant child and to try to ascertain what was could have been going through anyones mind that would cause the death of innocent child. My heart goes out to the family, said Sgt. Warren Mitchell of the Dallas Police Department.
Distraught family members showed up several hours later, and an ambulance had to be called after an unidentified woman passed out.
Ive always seen the young ladies around with their younger siblings so I really cant see anything like that happening its heart felt and upsetting to hear about it happening, said neighbor Joseph Veasley.

If you knew that area you wouldn’t be real surprised. I was a supervisor at that area’s workforce center (unemployment/welfare office) almost 10 years ago.
I watched the newsclip, no I’m not.

Guess that’s one way to put it. High water, low life, poor baby!
“Detectives declined to specify exactly how or where the baby drowned. They said making those facts public would only serve to sensationalize the circumstances of her death.”
Don’t want to give any ammo to those awful racists.
The “teen” is Negro else she were called a ‘teenager.’
“The teen is Negro else she were called a teenager.”
I never heard that before.
Look at any news item that involves teenage white kids or Negros under about 30. Race, if Negro is normally not identified until pretty far down in the piece except that if the youngsters are not Negro they will be referred to as youths or teenagers or something else but never “teens.” If the youths are Negro they are invariably “teens” and so labelled at the top of the item. Check it out. A gang of negros aged 18, 20, 24 and 32, attacking a white person or hitting a seven-eleven is a group of “teens” at least one of whose mothers will probably be quoted in the same story talking about what a good boy he is.
They must have meant the foster mother. The real mother is sitting in jail and had to give her baby over to CPS because of some traffic warrants.
So many in Dallas have gone nuts now, cases like this are far more common than in 1963; then liberals thought Dallas culture was responsible for the JFK assassination instead of a communist agent from New Orleans.
