I never heard that before.
Look at any news item that involves teenage white kids or Negros under about 30. Race, if Negro is normally not identified until pretty far down in the piece except that if the youngsters are not Negro they will be referred to as youths or teenagers or something else but never “teens.” If the youths are Negro they are invariably “teens” and so labelled at the top of the item. Check it out. A gang of negros aged 18, 20, 24 and 32, attacking a white person or hitting a seven-eleven is a group of “teens” at least one of whose mothers will probably be quoted in the same story talking about what a good boy he is.
