At least until fairly recently a baby in France had to get a name off an official list.
France is also the only country I know of that has an government agency that defines what is legal to say in its own language. You wouldn’t believe the hoops they’ve had to jump through to come up with acceptable words for items of new technologies. Not exactly an indication of “invented here”.
