Just checking in with greetings to all. Nothing going on here in west Michigan. Still too much of winter left. Just growing lots of alfalfa sprouts. Since I try to avoid carbs, my favorite way to eat them is on top of some tuna or salmon salad. With a liberal sprinkle of dulse powder on them. SO looking forward to spring!
I am avoiding so many things, that it’s hard to find something to eat these days. LOL
My blood pressure has been too high for quite some time. It was controlled pretty well with meds until recently. So now I’m taking a second pill and it’s still going up. They tried some other meds, but I reacted badly and they had me quit those. So now it’s keep sodium at 1500 or less, and lose some weight, step up the exercise and see if we can nudge it down that way.
Also have some trouble with borderline lipids and high triglycerides, and last blood test sugar was a little high, so I am to restrict fats, keep saturated fat to 9grams (approximately 10%), and restrict carbs too.
I am tracking foods and exercise on Web MD, now. I often have calories left, but can’t figure out what to eat, because the sodium, sat. fat, and carbs are at the daily target already and what I have left is protein. Tuna would work, but due to Mercury, they advise restricting that to 1 can per week.
Skim milk might work, but my calcium levels are too high, so they have me restricting dairy too. I am methodically modifying my recipes to cut way back on all the sodium and sat. fat, this week, I substituted almond milk and made some protein smoothies, that weren’t too bad.
