I’m not all that comfortable with the police being to shoot anyone that has access to a weapon.
The video is not clear enough (to me) to see what the passenger was DOING inside the car ... the cop repeatedly commanded him not to move and it SOUNDED like the passenger was not being very co-operative ... but the video is (IMO) inconclusive about anything except the cop shot a passenger
I agree. If the mere presence of a firearm, Nerf gun, Airsoft, glue gun, hose nozzle, or etc. is all that's needed to justify a police officer killing someone then it's a pretty logical step to making the conclusion that your life is in jeopardy every time you come into contact with a police officer.
But, of course, us peons can't justify shooting a police officer with the same excuse they use for shooting a peon:
"I was in fear for my life."
One of the things they drill in handgun safety classes is to NEVER, NEVER, NEVER put your handgun in the glove box for exactly this situation.
But if the “anyone” has a known history of shooting at cops?
“Reid, 36, had spent about 13 years in prison for shooting at New Jersey State Police troopers when he was a teenager”
This is in NJ land of gun control. CCW is only for politically connected all others must follow rules, you can only carry pistol in locked container in trunk of car unloaded on way to range. Anything else and you will be read your rights.
