In a surprise last minute announcement, the White House has revealed that President Obama will live tweet his own State of the Union address before Congress Tuesday night. Spokesman Josh Earnest confirmed that the president will have a smartphone with him at the podium in the House chamber so he can make real time comments on Twitter as he delivers his nationally televised speech.

“The President feels that providing a credible, instant reaction to his words via social media will mean increased message awareness with millennial and tech-savvy consumers,” said Earnest. “And who better to provide that reaction than the President himself.”

Using the hashtag #POTUSLive, the President will use pauses during applause in the speech to tweet clarifications of policy statements, comment on the facial expressions of audience members, and share selfies of himself with House Speaker John Boehner and Vice-President Joe Biden.

“THE FIERCE URGENCY OF NOW!”

on CNN, to describe what Obama wants.
