CAIRO Standing up to the spread of Islamophobia campaigns, a leading US civil rights organization has launched two of its educational campaigns in response to the current debate about Islam and free speech in the wake of the recent Charlie Hebdo attacks.
"There are specific and clear verses in the Quran that instruct Muslims to respond peacefully and with prayer to insults and mockery," Nihad Awad, National Executive Director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), said in a statement obtained by OnIslam.net.
"Free speech is at the core of Islamic beliefs."
The Washington-based civil rights group says its research shows a correlation between increasing knowledge of Islam and decreasing anti-Muslim prejudice.
In a bid to spread true information about Islam, CAIR has launched its "Share the Quran" campaign to enhance understanding of Islam through the free distribution of copies of the Quran to Americans of other faiths who request a copy.

Just make sure the pages are soft, rough pages make lousy toilet paper..
Laugh out loud funny!
Look for Awad at the Improv.
Let me point this out.
1. There are three books to the essential life of a Muslim....the Triology. So just having the Quran....won’t cut it.
2. Note as you read the Quran (you should put some effort into this)...it’s been edited over hundreds of years ago to put the longest ‘verses’ at the front and shortest at the end.....which means there is no coherent story...kinda like taking a Hemingway classic and mixing up the lines so there is no way to grasp the story. You have to have that scholar guy standing there....to get the mix.
3. Duality is the essential way of telling the message. You can say some quote at some point that says ‘love your neighbors’, which forty pages later is replaced by a quote of ‘annihilate your neighbors’. The last quote outweighs the first quote, in case you don’t get.
4. Finally, maybe it’s just me, but it just seems like sixty-odd percent of the Quran repeats Muhammad’s name...God only gets mentioned ten-percent of the time. And this whole thing about artwork and use of drawings/cartoons, as you get to the actual quote....is some quote that goes back to the angel Gabriel. It wasn’t what God said to Muhammad....but what Gabriel said. Too many Muslims end up with the wrong understanding of what the book says and what some interpretation is stuck on something.
Don't believe me? Just ask Charlie Habdo.
It sure is. Kinda like a nazi explaining how Mein Kampf is just a harmless overview of European politics.
With a foreword by President Obama
Wikipedia : “ The book details the four roots of law (Quran, Sunnah, ijma, and qiyas) while specifying that the primary Islamic texts (the Quran and the hadith) be understood according to objective rules of interpretation derived from careful study of the Arabic language.”
The operative phrase is the last - “derived from careful study of the Arabic language.” Translations, such as into English are invalid methods of studying the Quran.
There are specific and clear verses in the Quran that instruct Muslims to respond peacefully and with prayer to insults and mockery...Notice that he doesn't actually GIVE the numbers for those verses? It's an old practice known as "lying".
Free Korans! Puppy training paper!!!
Better yet- try to take a bunch of free Bibles into Saudi Arabia. Or wear a crucifix!
So let me get this straight:
They’re giving away free toilet paper, right?
I thought they were extras from “The Walking Dead.”
To be sure, the book has commands to violence. The Christian Bible contains violence too. But here’s the difference: What Christian major denominations, sub-sects or even way out there whack-a-doodle cults are promoting strict adherence to the literal text to “take an eye for an eye” or whatever?
Versus
How many organized, well financed, international major Muslim sects, sub-sects and/or whack-a-doodle cults are out there with extremely high levels of devout fervor, *PASSIONATELY* demanding stoning, chopping off hands and heads, and are otherwise stuck in the 12th century, literal-text and *WILL* want to kill you if you tell them to knock it off?
That’s the biggest difference I see and that’s enough. I’m sure there are volumes that could be written about the other glaring differences.
CAIR...a leading US civil rights organization?
CAIR... a leading ISLAMIC rights organization!
I’ve read it. It stinks.
