Or...was the cat using the baby to keep itself warm?
I wonder...

Was the cat meowing to get help, or to ask “How do I eat this thing?”
The world may never know.

Bravo for the kindly Cat deciding to protect the baby and call for help.
Boo and prayers to the person who abandoned this infant in the winter snow. Prayers, because at least the child was allowed to keep living.

I call BS. It’s just not in the nature of a cat.

No wonderment here...Cat could care less about the baby.
This cat sits next to the wood stove till around 5AM when it dwindles and then comes in the room and jumps on the bed.Cats are out for cats

if the cat was starving it probably would have chowed down on the kid

It’s not in the nature of a cat to find something warm to snuggle up to?

Cats can be excellent caretakers. My little one will use the litter box, then lick herself clean. Then she’ll hop in bed with me and lick my face clean as well.
Has a male cat that looked quite like that, but sand colored. Best cat I ever had.

Ha!
My dog would have rendered first aid, changed the baby’s diaper, gotten it a warm meal and then delivered it safely to the authorities before interviewing prospective adoptive parents.

Who cares what the motivation of the cat was, its presence likely saved the baby.
Thank God the cat was there.

Right; many (most ?) animals do this, as do many people, when they’re cold. Reptiles, flies, squirrels, bears, etc. Of course, kitty was nice and did not try to eat baby when kitty woke up !

Not true, there is video of a cat putting itself in harm’s way to save a kid from a dog attack and I know of one feral kitty who appointed herself guardian over an injured cat, keeping it fed, warm, and guarded from harm.

After getting up in the middle of the night to snack on what the cats left in the litter box, my dog likes to jump back into bed and lick me. But he quickly gets kicked out of bed!
