Or...was the cat using the baby to keep itself warm?
I wonder...

Was the cat meowing to get help, or to ask “How do I eat this thing?”
The world may never know.

No wonderment here...Cat could care less about the baby.
This cat sits next to the wood stove till around 5AM when it dwindles and then comes in the room and jumps on the bed.Cats are out for cats

Most of all, whichever it was God was the ultimate one who allowed the Child to live.

I love cats, but I think you’re spot on.

Cats have the same maternal instincts most animals have. They will protect & comfort those in distress. We had a tortoiseshell female when I was growing up who would comfort us when we were upset & crying. (She ignored us if we tried to fake tears.) I have a little female right now who sleeps near me when I’m in my office. If I sneeze or cough or make a noise she interprets as distress, she comes to see me to make sure I’m okay. Then she curls up in my lap.
Kitties are the best people.

Brown fat babies have is some amazing stuff. Tike would have been fine by himself I would say given a good set of lungs.

Or...was the cat using the baby to keep itself warm? In which case, why was the cat meowing? At the risk of having its new-found source of warmth suddenly removed?
