The gathering of justice and interior chiefs came as France mourned 17 victims of Islamist gunmen this week in the worst assault on its homeland security in decades.
'We will bring together all of our allies to discuss ways in which we can counteract this violent extremism that exists around the world,' Holder told reporters.
French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said after the meeting that European interior ministers had agreed to boost cooperation in an effort to thwart further jihadist attacks.
'We all agree that we need to put in place better control on certain passengers, on the basis of objective criteria and with respect for fundamental liberties and without disrupting cross-border travel,' he said.
He said Europe needed urgent progress in establishing a European Passenger Name Record database, which would facilitate the exchange of data about passengers between member states.

My high school English teacher would have labeled that sentence as VAPID GOBBELTY-GOOK in big red letters, and made me rewrite it.
yup- its all gotta be about obama....he could’ve flown to france and achieved same thing but then again he wouldn’t be the center of attention there, would he?
Hardly seems necessary. Only last month he talk America that the world was a safer place than ever.
Note that Obama and his minions describe the problem as “violent extremism,” while the headline writer covers for them by changing the words in the title of the article to “Islamic extremism.”
What’s important here is that a big dog & pony show is put on, so that the NY Times will report on it and reveal to AQ any sort of new initiatives that may be undertaken so that their effect and impact is blunted or defeated.
You see it IS the most transparent administration ever.
And the focus will be on evil white Christian heterosexual males and how they are the true terrorists.
The headline is misleading. Where has Obama said “Islamic extremism?” His wording is always nebulous and could apply to the TEA party, right wing militias, and gun owners, for instance.
Would the meeting include the president of Egypt????

And .. he called this little conflab so he can be the BIG honcho and not just one of the guys (like his AG was [standing in the back row - not smiling]).
And .. I have a sense that the AG’s influence didn’t go very far. At least FOX was not talking about it except to say he attended some meeting. ROTFLOL. I don’t think the French or the UK were in any mood to be lectured to by the likes of anybody from the USA.

Hey, will he have anything to say about if an AMBASSADOR is coming under fire from ISLAMIC EXTREMISTS, whether or not he'll send the military in to protect them?!!
Or will he just go to Vegas?
