Piling in full tilt in bad weather.

Traction control and 4 wheel drive aren’t magic.

“safe and prudent” means well below the speed limit in weather like that

Scary indeed.

There was also a load of fireworks somewhere along the carnage that caught fire, setting off a firestorm.

Wow! I can’t believe how fast those people were driving! No way in those conditions could they stop.

Back in the 60’s, when we lived in Michigan, we drove big cars with aggressive studs and treads. We drove at sane speeds. We NEVER had a snow related accident.

Just a reminder folks, you can film a landscape scene by rotating the cell phone 90°...

I don’t watch vertical videos. How hard is it to hold the camera correctly?

There are many people who drive aggressively and recklessly and they simply should not be allowed to drive motor vehicles as they pose danger to others and themselves. We need to treat aggressive/reckless driving much more harshly than drunk driving in my opinion. On Friday morning, we had some snow move through Southern Connecticut. Shouldn't have been a big deal, it was only 2-3 inches. However, the roads were a mess due to all the fender benders caused by people who insisted upon driving too fast in the snowy conditions. There were cars up on guardrails and multiple chain collisions. After about 10 miles of this nonsense, I turned around and worked from home. I was not going to put myself in danger with these idiots who insisted upon maintaining highway speeds on snow-covered roads and tailgating those who were trying to drive at a safe speed and leave adequate room between the car in front of them.

Watching this video makes me sick to my stomach because it was all so unnecessary. There is simply no excuse for careening down a highway at 60+mph when it is snowing hard and the roads are coated - especially when you can't see more than a 1/10th of a mile ahead of you.

Has these folks maintained a safe speed (maybe 35mph) and kept adequate distance behind the cars in front of them, they all would have gotten to their destinations safely.

But many motorists simply will not use that common sense approach. They feel that because they have 4WD or AWD, they are invincible, but that is a false sense of security because if you have to brake suddenly at highway speed on a snow covered road, you are going to spin out and wreck just like everybody else.

Many times I'll be driving in the snow at a safe speed and invariably some jerk in an SUV will be right on my tail, flashing his lights and making obscene gestures, because he wants to go full speed. I will try to pull over to the side of the road when it is safe and let them by but I should not have to do that.

Almost every wreck during a snowstorm is the direct result of somebody going too fast for the conditions.

On a perfectly clear, calm summer day at an ordinary intersection in town, most people these days will drive full speed up to the last possible second before they slam on their brakes and come to a stop behind someone at a light. They simply can’t be bothered to care about anyone else any more than that.

This video is what those people look like in winter. Its not about this or that thing they did wrong, because they do it ALL wrong, because they simply don’t give a damn. They feel nothing because of their antidepressants, they’re texting, listening to the radio, and are cocooned behind anti-lock, computer-controlled brakes. Especially, being liberals, they are utter jackasses ANYWAY and so habitually treat other people like garbage - and never, ever have to answer for anything they do.

Therefore, to these terminal narcissists, nothing will ever touch them. And then, on a cold winter day with bad weather, they pull onto the highway, floor it...

... and BAM!
