As was my habit, I put the original in the bag, sure enough, 15 minutes after I got home, I was lambasted for bringing home the gold seal. I repeated the explanation, to no avail; when I handed her the card, and told her to call “Carol” herself, she replied with “you are such an @$$h()le.

Wow.
At that point, as much as I'd want to unload with both anger-barrels, the best comment would be to utterly calmly and quietly say: Who are you? Who do you want to be? Because all I see is an ungrateful, ungracious person, full of ugly selfishness. Then turn around and walk away.
