A day of frustration...
Maybe you count differently than I, but I don't see 67 votes in the Senate for any of these. You're the one beating your head against the wall if you think you have 67 Senate votes for any of these.
First of all, recognize the truth. It was never possible for Boehner to be replaced.
Secondly, accept that the GOP is not and never has been, at least since 1928, a “conservative” party.
Third, accept that among Democrats and non-enrolled voters, there are more people whose interests line up with ours most of the time than there are among the GOPe. By keeping conservatives within the GOP, the GOPe wins elections it could never win on its own.
The GOP is a sham and a delusion. Yes, its destruction is going to lead to a lot of pain, because AS OF RIGHT NOW its only opposition is openly Marxist and covertly Leninist.
However, no real conservative opposition (real = chance of winning elections) can possibly emerge with the GOP in its present form.
Burn that b**** down.
Good. That's what we need in this Country at this point - full steam descent right into CWII. Bring it on.
Yes, there IS a way to predict what will happen: Look back on the last 20 years or so. That will tell you EXACTLY what would happen, and the prediction is this: The GOP is dead. Any voter willing to pull the lever for an "R" at this point should immediately check their patriotism. Pulling the "R" lever at this point is just pushing the GOP further to the left. Perhaps "R" voters would be happier at DU. Last I checked, this was actually a Conservative forum, and the truth is, Conservatives are 100% fed up, and are done with the "wait and see" game. That's exactly how the Jews ended up in camps and gas chambers. No thanks.
The key is the purse and the house has done nothing. You know the REPUBLICAN controlled house
We are both frustrated and we have both been frustrated a long time. And, now, they are trying to prepare us for another Bush.
My point exactly. And anyone falling for it should be ridiculed and impugned and treated like the ignorant, low info voters they are.
The only thing the house can do is pass bills. Bills must be approved in the Senate, and be signed by the president. They've only controlled the Senate for 1 day, where there still need to be 60 votes to pass a bill that the Democrats don't like, as well as 67 to override a veto, the same number required to convict the president for impeachment.
That’s just pitiful!
They controlled the House, Senate AND White House from 2000-2006. We got the "Patriot" Act, Part D and the beginning of the "too big to fail"/bailout policy that was continued under Obama. No thanks. I'm tired of getting bent over by people that are supposed to be on my side. Screw the GOP. I'm done with them. Again, anyone willing to continue to vote for GOP candidates, as Patrick Henry so succinctly put it: May their chains rest lightly and may posterity forget they were our (spineless, traitorous) Countrymen.
If the house votes to not fund something it will not be funded. It has the power of the constitution.
We can do this all day and you’ll still support the republicans. It’s time to decide f your conservative or republican.
You better brush up on your constitution. Spending bills must "originate" in the House, but they must also be passed by the Senate, and signed by the president.
You better brush up on your history. The Senate was either split, or under Dem control the whole Bush 43 presidency. The Patriot Act was overwhelmingly supported by the US population. I have no Idea what legislation you are talking about with the “too big to fail/bailout policy”. If you mean the TARP, it was passed in the Democrat controlled congress. Remember, TARP was a loan which was charged to Bush budgets, but was largely paid back during Obama’s administration. It was “free money” in the Obama budgets which was not charged to his deficits.
Um, pretty sure the R's had the majority in all houses from 2000-2006.
The Patriot Act was overwhelmingly supported by the US population.
And is now being used as a sorry assed excuse to enslave the same population.
If you mean the TARP, it was passed in the Democrat controlled congress.
And signed by a Republican President, who should have vetoed it.
Face it. The GOP is dead. Any vote for the GOP is just pushing the party further to the left, and showing some severely unpatriotic tendencies. The GOP is DEAD. Long live Conservatism.
I looked up this dynamic scoring you’ve been talking about.
And I respectfully ask the question: so what? The gop wing of the uniparty just signed off on a cromnibus that takes away any hope of blocking amnesty or any forseeable cuts in spending for at least the next year. So now its some sort of notable victory when they pass a minor procedural change? Its like having your house burn down, then jumping for joy because you managed to save a couple of t shirts from the conflagration.
So with respect, I’ll stick with my assertion that there is no significant difference between the democrat and republican factions of the uniparty other than perhaps the rhetoric. Two factions, one uniparty, same script.
you’re blind. don’t originate then. Get it.
You keep doing what you’re doing, everything will work out fine.
Wow!!! What a splendid argument. You need to join a debate society with such articulate messaging.
That gets called a "Republican Government Shutdown". Then what?
“Wow!!! What a splendid argument. You need to join a debate society with such articulate messaging.”
Naah. I just need to stop wasting my time with gop apologists.
The refusal to fund a program is not a government shutdown. The GOP does not have the courage to do anything and you have the same mentality. That’s why I’m supporting a new conservative party. We’re done.
