If you’re willing to put up with a warmer kitchen, in order to have a cooler bedroom or cooler shop, great. I’m just noting that it will be hotter wherever you make the ice. The refrigerator will run longer and harder while it’s freezing the ice. Because it’s not 100 percent efficient, it will make more heat energy than you gain in cooling from the ice.
What ever you say. All I know is what I experienced. The next time I freeze some plastic soda bottles I’ll listen to see if the fridge is running extra hard or extra long. It seems to me that unlike the food box that gets opened a lot, the freezer drawer pretty much stays the same temp. But hey, you’re the scientist.
