I have ancestors that came over on the Mayflower and the Anne. Not a large stretch to think a person from each ship met up in a very small colony. My genealogy is traced to both ships and beyond.

My father and grandfather's first name was Austin. The family story was that we were descended from Stephen F. Austin. Since we are from Texas we were delighted. I searched for the connection and discovered SFA never married and had no children. He raised a nephew but the boy died young. There could have been what's called “a woods colt” or an out of wedlock birth but I couldn't find it. My brother still has the binders on dad's side of the family, when I get them I'll be able to check out what the genealogist found.
