Donna Douglas -- who famously portrayed Elly May Clampett on the legendary 60s TV series "The Beverly Hillbillies" -- passed away Thursday at her home in Louisiana with friends and family by her side.
Douglas' granddaughter confirmed the death to TMZ.
Donna starred on "The Beverly Hillbillies" for all nine seasons and even returned for the 1981 reunion TV movie.
I can remember many parts where Granny and Jethro were being funny, and not so many with Jed or Ellie may. Jed played more of the straight man and the wise man to the others goofing off.
I would go so far as to say that Raymond Bailey did more comedy scenes than did Buddy Ebsen. I do remember Jed doing some funny scenes, I just don't remember as many of his as I do with Granny and Jethro.
Exactly, just hearing now about her passing made me realize she went home to be with the Lord. She was a very strong in her belief. For me she will always be Ellie May and now she is swimming in that Cement Pond in Heaven.
No only Max Baer is the only lone survivor now of the cast. Nancy Kulp died of Cancer back in 1991.
never saw Scared Stupid, so I can’t comment, but it makes sense to me that you may be right.
As an aside, I met a guy who is the son of “Larry” of Larry, Darryl and Darryl....he’s a big conservative.
Sadly, oil heiress Elly Mae never did get to marry Dash Riprock, Bolt Upright or one of her other Hollywood suitors.
RIP, Donna Douglas.
Think she was a real animal lover and solid Christian as well.
Amen
There was a Beverly Hills episode where there was a gorilla in it and I think at the end, Granny dressed the gorilla up in jeans, shirt and straw hat and was forcing it to do chores. Pretty funny stuff. And another one I remember was when they met some Beatnik or Hippie types. They were all fairly good, the golden age of TV comedy.

Oh, yeah...Mary Ann. Mmmm—mmm. Don’t forget Jeannie, too.
Or the 3 gals from Petticoat Junction.
My mother (rest her soul) wasn’t too crazy about letting me and my two older brothers watch Barbara Eden prancing around in that skimpy outfit. But man. What a fantasy that would be huh? A single guy with a hot babe who pops out of a bottle saying “Yes master, yes master’’?
Yeah man!
Ah, poor ‘’Miss Jane’’ hopelessly in love with Jethro.
It was #1 for many years. Made a fortune. Green Acres and Petticoat Junction were spin-offs. I think BH started the spin-off craze.
Take out all the crude sex jokes and Two and a Half Men would be 5 minutes.
It’s finally over...just got too old.
I wonder if Max ever asked to be in one of his porn productions.
Without tracking the exact post down, sure, Lil’ Abner probably was an influence on the Beverly Hillbillies, at least as far as Jethro goes and Daisy Mae on Ellie May.
But Granny being a battle axe? Maybe Ma Kettle? Possible.
I remember how they’d run some of the old Hollywood movies, not just Ma and Pa Kettle on tv but also the Francis the Talking Mule movies. I don’t see them on as much anymore though they may show them.
Didn’t we all.
One of my first great heart throbs, funny, good looking, and loved all the critters.
She will be missed.
