I don’t believe he is best known for Gilmore Girls...played FDR in a mini-series whichl lead to many narrator roles for documenateries on History Channel and was in many movies, ie Overboard

He was the Husband on Going Overboard.
But more importantly he was my Favorite History Channel/Documentary Narrator
Narrators now are all boring British people, he had excitement in his voice, really helped to carry them.

How awful.
He was one of my favorite TV personalities. He was always so dignified. Kind of the personality that you would have loved to seen a president with.
My wife loved the Gilmore Girls and will especially be sad to hear this.
