Here's The Most Educated Town In Every State
Business Insider ^ | 12/20/2014 | Andy Kiersz

We recently looked at the most affluent towns in every U.S. state. Now we're turning our attention to educational achievement.

The American Community Survey is an annual survey run by the Census Bureau to allow the government, corporate and academic researchers, and anyone who is curious about demographics to better understand the population of the U.S. Among many other subjects, the ACS includes questions about respondents' education levels.

Using the 2008-2012 ACS estimates for places with at least 1,000 population, Business Insider made a map showing, for each state, the town with the highest percentage of adults over 25 who have at least a bachelor's degree:

Wellesley MA?

I worked there. Home of Hillary’s Alma Mater.

Sorry...a percentage of people with degrees does not necessarily indicate intelligence.

It indicates that people just go to school longer, that’s all! :-)

One of the first things I noticed I have never heard of most of these towns.

Interesting that almost none of the “most educated” towns by this criteria are college towns. Looks like most are upscale suburbs.

Interesting that almost none of the “most educated” towns by this criteria are college towns.

I found three: Hanover NH (Dartmouth); Kingston RI (Univ of Rhode Island); and Fargo ND (North Dakota State).

I think that's about it.

Don’t believe it! Many of these are just small burgs on the outside of major metropolitan areas.

Goshen Ar, is outside the Bentonville-Rogers-Springdale-Fayetteville(U of Arkansas) corridor. WALMART HQ area.

Nichols Hills OK, is outside Oklahoma City and it’s many universities.

Belle Meade, TN, outside Nashville.

I looked at my state, because I was expecting it to be the college town, but it wasn't. I never heard of it, so I had to see where it was. It looks to be a small neighborhood just outside of the college town.

Incline Village (Nevada) also has a small college: Sierra Nevada College.

Knew a girl who went there, in fact.

The most educated town in Wyoming is Moose Wilson Road? They couldn’t field an entire town? Sheesh.
