Jif, Skippy, a whole raft of ersatz “peanut butter” aren’t worth the jars they’re packed in, and really ought not be allowed the term “peanut butter.” They are really more of a peanut flavored Crisco.

REAl peanut butter consists of finely ground peanuts and maybe a little salt. NOTHING MORE.

Arrowhead Mills makes a good smooth, and a brand called “Santa Cruz” is also pretty good.

Deaf Smith Brand was the best when it existed and Ox Heart was almost it’s equal in the Northeast markets. Sadly, both are gone.

But we need not settle for flavored hydrogenated vegetable oil.

Right you are ‘bout avoiding partially hydrolyzed cottonseed oil that popular tasting comfort food brands of our childhood used.
Bad for the arteries, but OMG Jif, Skippy and Planters smelled and tasted So Good. Still nothing like it to this day...

BTW: I don’t know about others here - but for me, its hard to stop wolf’in down peanut butter spread on great bread. True that its got high protein. Unfortunately it very high in fat.
Speaking of which:
I’m working on making a backpacking trail bar made mostly of peanut butter because PB is so perfectly energy & nutritionally dense, ie.: 180+ cal per ounce.
Can’t wait to try the PB combos mentioned in this thread. Thanks!

I don’t like my teeth crunching into peanuts when it’s spread on a piece of bread. Jif works for me.
