Brandon Raub is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps who decided to post critical opinions about Barack Obama on Facebook. What happened to him then will strike fear into the hearts of any good American and make them wonder what country they’re living in.
According to the Rutherford Institute, Raub was arrested by “a swarm of FBI, Secret Service agents and local police,” and detained without charges for “mental evaluation.”
The detention, it’s alleged, was done under a federal program codenamed “Operation Vigilant Eagle.” The program is intended to surveil former veterans who publicly express opinions critical of the government.

But then I see the link has an ARTICLE posted by the guy. Hard to quote just one thing, because there isn’t one thing that stands out as seditious, libelous or threatening at all.
It is a fairly good read, except for the 9/11 part way at the end... I have heard the same points made on this website continuously. Hell, I’ve made them myself.
So if they come for the guy for THAT, the might as well haul off all the rest of us on Free Republic!!!

Ive had a few close calls with truthers..at least on the internet.
they dont seem terribly level headed and given to fits of text based rage when pressed for authentic details...
Back in late 2011 and 2012 a female truther from NYC noticed a few replies of mine on a blog and singled me out to brainwash that 911 was a Bush family inside job. I was always courteous and friendly with her. She sent me booklets, a DVD or two, etc. Some of the stuff was more than a little convincing if you only looked at it from a certain angle. But after some time I just emailed her and thanked her for the material, but that I just couldn’t buy the inside job scenario and mailed it back to her. I never heard from her again.

on the same forum was a poster who saw one plane hit the pentagon

What’s a Face Book?
When given a choice between believing a lunatic who believes himself to be God and Janet Reno, I’m prone to choose the lunatic. The point was, the government, when in the hands of rabid liberal ideologues will say and do anything to cover their actions. You really think they would hesitate to accuse a political enemy with completely fictitious crimes if it suited their purpose? If you don’t like that example there are plenty of others.
That is where I originally saw the article.
I think the truth goes a little deeper. This so called “Justice Department” will throw anything they can against their perceived enemies, not necessarily to put them in jail but to send a message to others who may speak out if not kept in check by fear and intimidation. It may blow up in their faces thought. I hope to God it does.
I’m not that certain that any email you send or post you make on Free Republic isn’t scrutinized by the powers that be. In fact, they probably are. I guess the question is this, “Am I willing to oppose tyranny by speaking out in any way I can regardless of the threats and intimidation of the government?”
I understand anyone’s reluctance to use the social media. There is always the risk that anything you post can blow up in your face. BUT. And this is a big but, I also think that we need to create a dialog with the skull fulls of mush out there, many of whom frequent the social media. If we can make a case clearly, convincingly, logically and yes, with love, we might get a hearing in the court of public opinion. The left has taken every opportunity and uses every avenue to get their twisted views out there. We must be willing to do the same.
Beautiful story. They government simply has to try to put its nose into everything. The real problem with big, out of control government, is that it is trying to become God. And I think the real God has serious misgivings about their attempts. He won’t stand for it. He tends to withhold judgment hoping people will change. May even step out of the way and say, “Okay, if you want it, you’ve got it.” Then the natural course of events will bring down the imposters. Give it enough time. It will play itself out.
That was a short part of the entire chain of thoughts.
Many here have made statements less benign than anything he said - to quote an old Tom Lehrer song, "Who's next?"
I doubt that was the reason. They would have to arrest my sister.
Even if all charges are dropped the Powers that Be have already meted out considerable punishment. How much will it cost this marine in attorney’s fees? What about the damage to his reputation? What opportunities are lost for future work?
I am willing to fight for my freedoms. Just not in a lawyer slimed court room. To me that is beating my head against a wall against a stacked deck. No, check out my tag line...that is how I'll oppose tyranny when and if the time arrives.
