I have a Lenova C440 All-in-One Windows 8.1 PC.
Recently I tried to install an application from the DVD installer disc. It failed. The first part of the process, choosing the location and the type of install, worked fine, but when the disc was supposed to spin up and copy/install all the files, it just sat there with no activity.
After several minutes, I canceled out of it. I tried an install disc for a different app, and it failed similarly.
I have done an Internet search for the issue, and have tried a few of the suggestions, including a couple or three things from the Microsoft Support website. No change.
Suggestions, please?
CLASSIC SHELL was the first thing I did with Win8.
LOL.
In that case, I am sure it will quickly become Sum Ting Wong.
people still use DVDs to install programs?
I believe one of your other replies already addressed your puter’s makers...
That WAS just a joke. I hope you can resolve it without much headache.

If it doesn't list your program when you get to that point then choose, not listed, then click browse and point it to the program in your CD/DVD drive and see if it picks it up from there. I've run in to this issue installing older programs on Windows 8 sometimes and most of the time it is a compatibility issue and can be fixed in this manner.

Darn straight. This is Free Republic where we are happy to help if you have peanut butter in your hair or a snake in your bedroom, but tech support, not so much.
Thank you.
LOL
Thank you for the link to classic shell. It works great.
I like the start menu ad what I can do to my folders.
