This story passed through my social media feed the other day and I couldnt resist giving it a virtual shout out.
Discount Mattress and Furniture in the Airport Mall in Bangor currently has their windows decorated with a nativity, and the words Jesus is the Reason for the Season.
Nothing wrong with that, right? Jesus is the reason for this season after all.
Well, apparently some window watchers are not having a happy holiday upon seeing this display because the furniture store recently posted the following message to their Facebook Page
We are getting some calls that people dont like our windows at Discount Mattress & Furniture /Airport Mall. We understand that you will not shop here and we are sorry if it offends you..To those that asked us to take the scene down we are sorry that you dont believe as we do but the windows are staying as displayed until January 1st. If our sales decline due to our window scenes then we will shut our doors and still give the glory to the Lord.
In this day of political correctness around the holidays, this business owner definitely deserves a pat on the back for standing firm. Thankfully, they did not retreat from the vocal few that have nothing better to do than to try and ruin Christmas for the rest of us. I know where Ill be buying my next couch.
Just tell them that you put an atheist display in another window to balance things out... it’s the one with “nothing” on it!
I called and spoke with one of the owners (named "Cathy") to thank her for blessing us with this heartening Christmas story ('local business refuses to bow to Atheist pressure at Christmas'), and she told me of a private charity which this store does every year reaching 1,800 children.
Please, if any among you can help these folks with even a couple bucks, this is the address:
Discount Mattress & Furniture
1129 Union Street
Bangor, ME 04401
God bless us all, and Merry Christmas to every one!
Have any muslim run stores been targets of the anti-religious jerks? I lived in Texas a couple years and there was a middle east restaurant / grocery store owned by a Pakistani couple. The food was fantastic and he kept a section filled with groceries you can’t get anywhere else. I don’t recall anyone complaining with his religious symbols on the wall. If it offended me, I wouldn’t go there. I don’t ever recall hearing a story of him getting complaints.
To those who are complaining about religious displays, and we all know they ONLY complain about Christian displays, get a life and mind your own business.
LOL! Atheists are just envious because the concept of "atheist holiday" is a contradiction in terms - what would they celebrate?
Suggestions:
1) "Tough Noogies"
2) "Deal with it."
3) "Life is full of disappointments."
4) "As clinton once said, 'Ah feel yore pain.'"
5) "We acknowledge your complaint. Next?"
Brilliant!
I'll have to remember that.
Another contradiction in terms...
They would "celebrate" the pro-sodomy GLBCTXYZ look-at-me-dammit subculture.
From Sea to shining sea,
from Bangor all the way to mighty Maine...
Of the 17, not only did I "know" they were diseased, but never watched a single movie or TV episode they performed in.
The two I had missed (at the time) were from the era before the deviants became disgustingly militant.
