The only way to keep your team from getting bad calls is to have someone the caliber of Saint’n Manning on your squad.

Bad call but the Seahawks would have won anyway. That is all.

CBS wants Brady vs. Manning in the AFC title game. Networks need ratings, and ratings mean money. You don’t see bad calls against teams led by Peyton Manning and Tom Brady.

I think NFL officials are full time.

What would help is to remove all the secrecy. Make them explain their calls in post game press conferences just like coaches have to explain their decisions. It humanizes them and would really release a lot of the suspicion.

PM me your address, I’ll send you my extra tin foil. I think your reception is a bit foggy.

I hate the 9ers, but it was a bad call and turned the momentum of the game.

Just put the QB and receivers in freaking dresses.

I am NOT NOT defending this particular call...BUT BUT BUT: There are a few problems with that macho over reaction knee jerk: A: QBs are very exposed after they release passes. Kickers are too right after they kick. They are not in an attack position. It's not at all like plays where both players are bracing for the hit. THE SECOND problem is that for all of this macho bitching, people like what? They like plays when NO ONE touches the ball carrier, or receiver, etc. They like long skill play touchdowns. It's called ESPN Top Ten.

Since they work 1 day a week, most refs have other careers.

You could pay for full time, since the league has money, but tough to sit around the rest of the time.

Just because I am paranoid doesn't mean that someone isn't out to get me. My Bills played Denver last week. Malik Jackson (Denver) got up, after a play was over, and delibertly head butted Tight End Scott Chandler. He later got a fine, but no flag. The Bill farted near Peyton Manning and their were flags galore. I have been watching football for forty years, so cram you tin foil. There is a perception out there about the NFL, and they can try to laugh it away, but they do so at their own peril. And furthermore, tell me about the Tuck rule and snowblowing the field before a crucial field goal for Tom f'in Brady. And that is just the tip of the iceberg.

I am going to be nice and not respond in kind. Go back and read your post, you never said: "....the call in question was awful...."

You simply said you were not defending it, which is not the same thing.

I suggest you not respond back as there is no point in talking to you with the attitude you showed from the get-go.

Have a Merry Christmas.

Star players have always gotten preferential treatment from officials, happens in every sport, regardless of the team those players play for at the time. It’s not right, I don’t like it, but it’s just the human nature of the refs (who are very human) playing out. It’s not some conspiracy.

The tuck rule is a bullshit rule. The NFL has several bullshit rules, including the tuck rule, and the bullsh-t on whether to count the play or make them replay it on a false start penalty, and the worst of all: the “break the plane for a nano second” rule for a ball carrier outside the endzone versus the possession a receiver must maintain in the end zone.

Yeah, the NFL has lots of problems. They have written stupid rules that make officiating much harder than it should be. But everyone is making zillions of dollars - they’re not rigging anything for TV rating revenue. Thats just silly.

Ed Hock a Loogee has had so many “suspect” calls over the years I am convinced he is the NFL version of Tim Donaghy.
