Beyond these three visible dimensions, scientists believe that there may many more. In fact, the theoretical framework of Superstring Theory posits that the universe exists in ten different dimensions. These different aspects are what govern the universe, the fundamental forces of nature, and all the elementary particles contained within.

In the sixth, we would see a plane of possible worlds, where we could compare and position all the possible universes that start with the same initial conditions as this one (i.e. the Big Bang). In theory, if you could master the fifth and sixth dimension, you could travel back in time or go to different futures.

Dude, TMI...TMI
As well as journals of physics, in peer-reviewed articles written by quite serious theoretical physicists.
dimension here simply means another degree of freedom that is orthogonal and independent of the previously known one(s).
You are using a definition couched strictly in narrow mathematical terms (much too narrow even for math, really). But the mathematical representation stands for quite real physical dimensions just as real as the lower three, if not visible to us (neither is the third dimension visible to the mythical flatlanders).
She was a Beauty!
I’m having enough trouble with 3 dimensions.
I always had a problem with flatlanders. I think that they wouldn’t be able to ‘see’ anything. any object in two dimensions would have no thickness, so anyone operating in those two dimensions could not make out anything about other two dimensional objects.
Do you like how we hijacked your thread :-)

If you give my neighbor Bill some chalk or a crayon he can explain it all.
If I put a Calabi-Yau manifold on my Chevy truck would that give me infinite horsepower?
“The same thing is true when you go three dimensional to fourth dimensional. You still can perceive the old way, but a new reality begins to form.”
I’ve had the same life experience with dimensions 4-7. The new reality, as you phrase it, really is amazing.
Like, cosmic, man...
I’m still trying to get my head around where’s the edge of the universe and what’s beyond that.
I’m almost tempted to believe that we are just one computer program like the Matrix but then what’s controlling the computer program? And then still, where’s the edge of the computer program and what’s beyond that. Then the beings controlling the program where’s the edge of their universe and what’s beyond that?
Ghosts I’ll never understand either. A Matrix glitch like in the movie?
That and gay guys.
“In fact, the theoretical framework of Superstring Theory posits that the universe exists in ten different dimensions.”
Stop calling it a theory! Theories first of all are singular, not fifty different flavors of “string” interpretations that are all equally plausible or implausible. Also, theories have to make testable predictions, or they are just intellectual masturbation.
I’m having a hard time existing in Obama’s “3 Dimension world” so scientists, please go away and take the 7 other dimensions with you.
Twilight Zone
Outer Limits
Night Gallery
Those are the only other “dimensions” worth looking at.
I’m noting just what you did there.....
n-dimensional mobius “solid”?
From Amazon (emphasis added):
"In this illuminating book, the renowned theoretical physicist Lee Smolin argues that fundamental physics -- the search for the laws of nature -- losing its way. Ambitious ideas about extra dimensions, exotic particles, multiple universes, and strings have captured the publics imagination -- and the imagination of experts. But these ideas have not been tested experimentally, and some, like string theory, seem to offer no possibility of being tested. Yet these speculations dominate the field, attracting the best talent and much of the funding and creating a climate in which emerging physicists are often penalized for pursuing other avenues. As Smolin points out, the situation threatens to impede the very progress of science. With clarity, passion, and authority, Smolin offers an unblinking assessment of the troubles that face modern physics -- and an encouraging view of where the search for the next big idea may lead."
ditto
There are three dimensions.
Anyone who says different is a blasphemer.
