Four teams in playoff:
1: 'Bama
2: Oregon
3: FSU
4: THE Ohio State University
Of course another factor.
With the championship game in Dallas, did the Committee want the potential of one of the finalists essentially playing a ‘Home Game’ and losing all those tourist dollars?
When the AP picked the “mythical national champion, “ there was controversy; when the BCS picked the wo top teams to play for the championship, there was controversy;etc. I think they ought to just let it go back to a regional competition and let the conference championships mean something again. And the Bowls.
And Indiana beat the SEC East champion.
I’m inclined to agree. But College Football becomes more and more NFL-Lite.
That’s SEC (L)East champion.
True that.
And perhaps that's the biggest indictment of the Big 12 of all. That their two flagship schools have been wallowing in mediocrity for years.
The Big 12 is now a national joke, and by far the least prestigious of the Power 5 conferences. They've got big problems and it will only get worse.
Extending the playoff bracket to eight teams would probably moh better.
That’s part of why I love Free Republic: Someone here LOOKED UP THE RULES. In light of the rules, the result is exactly as it should be.
Well done, Jumper.
Absolute travesty.
But I never doubted that TCU , Baylor or any other second teir school would get screwed over for Ohio State.
has absolutely nothing to do with it...Florida State is in Tallahassee and does not travel well- cripes; they’ve barely filled their stadium for the past decade...
your better argument would be Ohio State was put in the mix because they did not want to leave mid-America vacant in the title...
why?? the NCAA and Committee get a cut of the tourism $$$ for the title game (or any playoff game for that matter)??
Damn if my TCU Frogs didnt lose that Baylor game (of which they had a big lead) they would have been a top 4 team and also undefeated. Oh well.
Why would that have mattered? Had nothing to do with Ohio State. There was no way the powers that be were going to allow TCU or Baylor in ahead of Ohio State.........
The biggest problem that TCU and Baylor had was neither were outright conference champions - priority #1.
OSU did win their conference and did it quite convincingly.
and Oregon is a flagship school in the PAC 12?? Silly me- i always thought it was USC and UCLA....
bitch about the Big 12 all you want; the ACC is turning into a garbage conference as well...its Florida State then everyone else...as nice as a story as it is, that football powerhouse Duke has been one of the better teams in the league the past three years...
ACC went 4-0 against the SEC a week ago.
The Big XII Commissioner....One True Idiot.
