My understanding, which I realize could be wrong, is that the Tallahassee police bungled the initial investigation. I don’t think he was cleared though. It became a he said/she said. Accusations have flown that she was accusing him only because of his status in the football world. Heisman trophy and all that. This seems to be the only avenue the girl thought she had left.
I really don’t think he will get more than a reprimand, deserved or not.
You mean the Little Sisters of the Poor, right? In your highly exalted position, that’s all TCU played, and funny, they won the Rose Bowl that year.
As a Buckeye fan, I haven’t been all that worked up about being on the outside looking in, and in fact, have been trying to figure out what sort of Major bowl it will be for them in the event they finish 12-1 but remain number 5 or 6 in the playoff rankings.
Seems there’s a decent chance of a Buckeye v. TCU/Baylor non-playoff participant Fiesta Bowl matchup, right?
OSU travels well anywhere and the TCU or Baylor excluded playoff team only needs to go west a few hundred miles. Seems like a mini-”losers bracket” playoff. This all changes with a loss by any of the top 4 or a loss by the Bucks or Baylor too.
Also, is everyone aware that the Orange and Fiesta Bowls are being played on New Years Eve so as not to compete with the Jan 1 Playoff games?
Sorta reminds me of 1966 when an undefeated, untied defending national champion was denied the title, and even denied a shot ath the team that played politics instead of football.
Bah! I’ll be the first to admit that college football is corrupt. YOu’re just jealous becaus we do it better than you. Footbal, I mean :)
Did not mean to denigrate the year that TCU had that season.
Just pointing out that they were in a conference that got no love or respect from the rest of the nation.
From my exalted position, that’s what it looks like to me...How’s the weather down there? :)
Half those teams have puff seasons
The SEC is its own worst enemy
Wikipedia is your friend; From the article there was this closing line:
ranking both teams above the undefeated, and two time defending national champion 1100 Alabama. Both schools shared the MacArthur Trophy, while Alabama was denied recognition for its accomplishment, a point of contention to this day.
It's good to see that you folks have decided to let bygones be bygones... :)
I’m quite aware of the Mountain West Conference getting zero respect from the rest of the nation. That’s why I used Gordon Gee’s reference to them. I understand it, though. The MWC hasn’t historically been a great fearsome league. However, from my perspective, it was at least as strong as some other conferences that folded (Big East suddenly came to mind).
How’s the weather down here? Probably not as hot as you’d probably expect for such a “dreadful” place. Actually, it’s a little on the chilly side.
Won’t they (Baylor & TCU) then be co-champions, per the Big 12 Commish?
refs are usually more stand off’ish during bowl games actually.
that’s what I heard, and it makes no sense. A tie should go to the winner of the head to head.
Didn’t have to google it.
And no, bygones are not bygones. :)
If Auburn ever plays Notre Dame, I’m hollering War Damn Eagle with the best.
You missed the part where the police concluded that there was no credible evidence to believe that a crime had been committed...That is why criminal charges were never brought...The rest is just a witch hunt...
Will Muschamp to Auburn?
Is that proof that a sucker is born every second?
He is a good DC. Good coordinators don’t necessarily make good head coaches.
Great guy though....
Interesting point, if Muschamp returns to being a DC, can he ever be a head coach again?
Ron Zook at least was able to get a head coaching gig at Illinois after Florida dumped him, and he actually did OK for awhile there.
Perhaps Muschamp would be better off trying to get a head coaching gig at a smaller school, for now, if he ever wants to be a big-time head coach again, because no big school is going to risk it, until he shows he can be a successful head coach at a lower level.
AND, as I said; what if...TCU DESTROYS Iowa State on Saturday?!?
Nevermind all this playoff stuff.....SMU WINS!!!! No winless season for them.
