I disagree. If you are the unlucky neighbor of a beagle owner, the howling is the bigger issue. Been through that. You can hear them half a block away when they're in the garage. You can't train it out of them. It's their nature.
The dogs are kept in the garage?
Thats a big part of the problem. Beagles are decidedly pack animals in nature. And dogs are pack animals to begin with, beagles just take it to a different level. Combine with their stubborness, and you get a dog that will be very vocal with any/all grieviences.
Relegating them to a garage, or a backyard or anywhere they’re separated from the human component of their pack when they don’t want to be, and they’ll howl. Treat them like lapdogs, spoil them a bit (but not to excess) but keep them close and be responsive to them and the howling goes away.
