NOAA says that the first 10 months of the calendar have been the warmest in more than 130 years.
The weather outside has been frightful, but not because it’s cold.
According to a new report by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, this year is shaping up to be the hottest since scientists began keeping record more than 130 years ago.
The combined global land and ocean average surface temperature from January to October was 1.22 degrees Fahrenheit warmer than the 20th century average of 57.4 degrees Fahrenheit.
“Record warmth for the year-to-date was particularly notable across much of northern and western Europe, parts of Far East Russia, and large areas of the northeastern and western equatorial Pacific Ocean,” reads the report.

Yes, but those data points are not being included in the claim, because it's almost winter and they might skew the data.
NOAA’s National Climatic Data Center said that the period from December 2013 through February 2014 was the 34th coldest such period for the contiguous 48 states as a whole since modern records began in 1895.

The weather hasn't changed. It has simply moved somewhere else. It's not like it's tied to the ground.
They claim it is warming to the tune of 2 degrees of overall rise over the next 100 years. The margin of error in the temperature measurements is greater than 2 degrees. The 'normalized' adjustment spoken of a few posts previous just adds to that margin.
The predictions are totally meaningless.
As we all know, they don't give a hoot about 'us' and the weather, it's ABOUT THE MONEY.
Yes, we had freezes here some 2-3 weeks early and they were colder than normal.
I don’t know. This year had one of the loveliest summers that I can remember. And by lovely I mean not hot.

According to those bozos every year is the hottest ever and every year we give no > cat 3 hurricanes hitting the US mainland. Is there any part of the US government that still has a grasp on reality ?

I’ts getting harder and harder for these guys to gerrymander the numbers, though...next, they will be combining the temperatures of the ionosphere in the mix.

The Sahara Desert has been growing for thousands of years, long before the smoke from my outdoor grille got to it.
It's a serious problem, as documented by Anthony Watts on his "Surface Station" website.
NOAA actually was concerned about his reporting - they've closed a few of the problematic stations but haven't really addressed the core issue (nor have they done anything about the "cooked" data).
Remember people, the official temperature is what NOAA says it is, not what it actually is.
As soon as I saw the headline, I said to myself, “I’ll bet this is surface temp data, which is pretty useless.”
Sure enough, it is. The temperature tracking stations have become a farce, magnifying the urban heat island to a new status.

Possibly - we’re still recovering from the Little Ice Age which started to abate about 150 years ago - about the time they started keeping good records.....
