Australia Test batsman Phil Hughes has died, two days after being hit on the head by a ball.
Australia team doctor Peter Brukner said he never regained consciousness and died in hospital in Sydney.
Hughes, 25, was carried off on a stretcher at the Sydney Cricket Ground after a short-pitched delivery struck his head, missing his helmet.
He had CPR and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation before being taken to hospital and placed in an induced coma.
In a statement, Brukner said: "It is my sad duty to inform you that a short time ago Phillip Hughes passed away. He never regained consciousness following his injury on Tuesday.

You (moose07) probably know, seeing you’ve posted, but for anybody else who reads this, this is an absolutely huge story in Australia - and will be pretty big throughout the major Cricketing nations (which is a lot of the Commonwealth).
Condolences and prayers for his friends and family.
My condolences to all Australians for this tragic loss.
Good grief, how many great and small folks died, on the same day? The silly crap just continues, no matter the inanity. The ball worshipping morons abound, no matter of reality. You fellas, are well done out.. Regardless- Happy Thanksgiving
The cricket ball is much harder than a baseball ball. It is hardest when new, then gets a bit softer with use and hit a few times.
RIP Aussie batsman.
Too young to go. RIP.
I almost thought the cricket balls were a really solid hardwood ball, the way they look.
Nah, those balls are only a bit softer, than the punts getting close to the raging speed of waffle ball.

Worth a read if interested in the ball construction. :)
This really sucks - he was such a humble young man!
I have no idea who this guy was, but I hope he rests in peace.
Very sad.Young bloke with a fair bit in front of him by the look of it.Prayers for his family and friends.
How very sad. The poor young man.
It has come as a big shock here in India.
RIP, Philip Hughes.
So very sad. The cricketing world is hurting at the moment. It seems to have been a freak and very tragic accident.
As well as with the family and friends of Phillip Hughes, a thought must also be spared for the bowler, Sean Abbott, who must be experiencing his own personal Hell at the moment.
A terrible, terrible, loss.
Sounds like it burst his carotid artery. At least it was quick and likely pretty painless. RIP, Mr Hughes. You were way too young to go.
My Deepest Sympathy-This man was the next Don Bradman!
Reminds me of Ray Chapman, a Cleveland Indians shortstop killed by a pitch thrown by Yankees pitcher Carl Mays during a game at the Polo Grounds in 1920.
