FULL TITLE: "The moment Cleveland cop shot dead a 12-year-old boy in the playground: Footage captures moment officer killed Tamir Rice after mistaking his BB gun for a real weapon"

Cleveland police have released video footage showing the moment 12-year-old Tamir Rice was shot dead by a rookie officer who mistook his BB gun for a real weapon.

The boy was shot by Timothy Loehmann, 26, on Saturday after a 911 caller reported seeing a juvenile waving around a gun - but did not know whether or not it was real. Newly-released audio showed that the 911 dispatcher did not pass on this concern to the responding officers.

At a press conference on Wednesday, authorities released the 911 call, police dispatch calls and a grainy video showing the moment the officers arrived and shot the boy.

The footage shows Rice - who the officers thought was about 20 - reaching for his waistband instead of responding to police requests to raise his hands, police said. They fatally shot him just two seconds after pulling up in their cruiser, the footage shows.

We all know that the development of the amygdala, the portion of the brain which generally fosters judgment, is not complete until the early 20’s,

Wish..I'd a seen this 30 years ago!!

I’m gonna help you out

I’ve been here 15 years and survived very serious acrimony over and over

Even my enemies here will cede I have some credibility even if they think I’m a redneck Johnny Rebel type

I have noticed Jack Boot Thug Bootlickers here since day one

We used to call them JBTLs

Today is no different ....cop love is what it is as is deep resentment of urban criminal no dad at home minority blight

And I share the latter bigtime

But too many of today’s cops are just effed up

Militarized

Seal team Six egos and wannabes

MRAPS for free

Black ops gear and fancy web gear etc

But scared...like Columbine or shooting kids

Any threat it’s instant reaction and kill shot....like its A Shau valley

When I was a boy deputies were braver and carried wheelguns and BDLs and Winchester 97 pumps and wore khaki and slouch hats

And drove big Mopar

I’ve had my conflict with em....I like about a third of em

Some of them id like to that badge off and beat their asses

I first became aware of this problem back in the ‘70s. LAPD saw some guy walking down the street who they thought looked suspicious. They pulled over and ordered him to stop walking so that they could question him. He ignored them and kept walking.

The situation quickly escalated and the ‘suspect’ ended up shot. The reason he didn’t stop? He was deaf and had no idea the police were ordering him to stop.
