Star Trek-like invisible shield found thousands of miles above Earth

A team led by the University of Colorado Boulder has discovered an invisible shield some 7,200 miles above Earth that blocks so-called “killer electrons,” which whip around the planet at near-light speed and have been known to threaten astronauts, fry satellites and degrade space systems during intense solar storms.

The barrier to the particle motion was discovered in the Van Allen radiation belts, two doughnut-shaped rings above Earth that are filled with high-energy electrons and protons, said Distinguished Professor Daniel Baker, director of CU-Boulder’s Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP).

...

The latest mystery revolves around an “extremely sharp” boundary at the inner edge of the outer belt at roughly 7,200 miles in altitude that appears to block the ultrafast electrons from breeching the shield and moving deeper towards Earth’s atmosphere. “It’s almost like theses electrons are running into a glass wall in space,” said Baker, the study’s lead author. “Somewhat like the shields created by force fields on Star Trek that were used to repel alien weapons, we are seeing an invisible shield blocking these electrons. It’s an extremely puzzling phenomenon.” A paper on the subject was published in the Nov. 27 issue of Nature.

That’s the thing about science. God wants us to figure it out.

I bet he gets a good chuckle out of what we THINK we have figured out.

>> “But absolutely necessary.” <<

Only necessary to a deeply flawed and failed model.

The “necessity” ends when one accepts that our universe is decidedly bounded, not unbounded.

The prophecies WRT the end of time make it clear that the universe is is a small and expendable feature of the realm of the Father, and scheduled to depart:

Revelation 20:

11. And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

My guess is that he shakes his head in disappointment.

Spot on and now we know we’re living in the Marvel Universe and not DC.

There’s a Jewish saw that as long as there are ten God fearing people in the world, He will not end it.

Actually that was my point, guess it was too subtle. :)

Have you noticed that there is nothing indicating that anyone not a part of the First Resurrection would be righteous?

There is much said about those that will be cast into “outer darkness,” but not one word indicating that one single person born during the millennial reign would enter the “New Jerusalem.”

Does he?

1Corinthians 3:

[18] Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.
[19] For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.
[20] And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.
[21] Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours;

Why would he wish for us to know the things that he has promised to destroy? .

Why would he wish for us to know the things that he has promised to destroy?

Like communication via the internet? Like electricity? Being able to fly from one distant place to another in just a few hours?

Perhaps you'd be comfortable waiting out God from the cave.

I think it's Talmudic that, 'if you're planting a tree and hear that the moshiach is come, first finish the planting, and then go to greet him.'

Not all planets have a magnetosphere either. It’s hard to tell whether that’s what they are talking about. I don’t think it is, but you never know.

The magnetosphere is what keeps solar wind from frying us. When you have heavy sunspot activity, the interaction between the magnetosphere and the solar wind is what causes the stripping of photons to occur, and the ‘northern lights’ aurora that is created at the poles.

Nuclear blasts cause something similar. The higher the gamma radiation, the more of an auroral light show gets put on. The weird part is that at a point symmetrical on a North - South basis from the equator, you get the same aurorial light show. Nuke something at 45N latitude, you get a light show at 45S latitude.

Weird, no?

When Moshiach comes, it will be “in the clouds with power and great glory” and his elect will not have to go anywhere to greet him, he will summon them up himself.

He specifically said not to go where people say he is, for he is not there.

What of the things you listed is beneficial to your spiritual condition?

I know God is not my celestial butler. It’s enough for me to know he’s there, and that I fear Him, as in the admonition of Torah, so that I should fear all else less.

I don’t pray much, unless it’s for others. As for His nature, “Israel” means to ‘struggle’ with God, as “islam” means to submit.

I’ll struggle, thanks.

Yes it is. Mathematical symmetry in nature is fascinating.

Thanks.

As long as your struggle is in the vein of Jacob’s you’ll do well.

Among living things, most of nature is not symmetry, but Fibonacci spirals.

Flowers, succulent plants, pine cones, cartilage in joints, etc.
