Garth Brooks cancels Thanksgiving appearance on ‘Tonight Show’ after Ferguson decision

The singer wrote on his Facebook page that he landed in New York on the night the grand jury’s decision was announced 'to the news of the civil unrest that was going on in our nation.'

Singer Garth Brooks has canceled a Thanksgiving appearance on NBC’s “Tonight” show because he said it “seemed distasteful” given the reaction to the decision not to prosecute Ferguson, Missouri, police officer Darren Wilson for the shooting of Michael Brown this summer.

NBC on Wednesday confirmed the postponement, saying Brooks was being replaced on the show by Whoopi Goldberg and Tom Colicchio.

Brooks wrote on his Facebook page that he landed in New York on the night the grand jury’s decision was announced “to the news of the civil unrest that was going on in our nation. To spend the day promoting our stuff like nothing was wrong seemed distasteful to me.”

I honestly didn’t pay attention one way or another so I had no idea.

I did get invited to see him perform here a couple months ago and it was on 9/11. I wore my NY Firemen 9/11 t-shirt to the concert and was so po’d that he NEVER made mention of that horrible day in our nation’s history. Didn’t sing a single song of tribute or acknowledge the day in anyway.

He can KMA.

“In a 1999 interview with George, Brooks said, “[...]But if you’re in love, you’ve got to follow your heart and trust that God will explain to us why we sometimes fall in love with people of the same sex.” Happily, I’ve NEVER listened to him, and could not tell you what songs he has ever sung.

Brooks became very unpopular here at FR when he started defending, and promoting the prohomo agenda back then...

Garth Brooks is the latest leftist country entertainer. He’s also the biggest phony this side of the moon. He never sang country music growing up, never rode a horse, never wore a cowboy hat. What little he did sing in in teenage years was awful rock music. He was raised in the suburbs of Yukon, OK, not on a farm, not on a ranch. He will tell anyone that his “influences” were liberals like Bill Joel and Bruce Springsteen. He only started singing “country” if you want to call it that because he was absolutely terrible as a rock singer. So now he joints the ranks of the dopehead Willie Nelson, Tim MacGraw and Faith Hill, The Dixie Chicks, Steve Earl, Dolly Parton, Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley, Tobie Keith, and Carrie Underwood, who have “came out” as diehard Obama supporters. Stick a fork in this boated has-been. He’s done as a “country” singer anyone pays any attention to.

lol awesome description. Plus the hits the idiot had were written by other people. “Friends in low places” “The dance” he didn’t even write and he was trying to promote this BS image that he was “a struggling songwriter from Nashville” when it was complete crap. He was just a freakin’ session musician who lucked out no different from Madonna plus I heard he did strong arm deals like Madonna after he sold, if he wanted to record someones song he would demand he get writers credit which is why you see his name tagged on the end of songs.
