Today, playing at home against Kansas, OU TRUE FRESHMAN running back Samaje Perine broke the NCAA FBS series record, set just last week by Wisconsin RB Melvin Gordon. Gordon's record, set last week against Nebraska, was 426 yards.
Perine ran for 427 today, breaking not only the FBS single-game record, but passing the freshman season total for former Sooner player, including Joe Washington, Billy Sims, Marcus Dupree, Mike Gaddis and Spencer Tillman.
Oh yeah some guy named Adrian... whatshisname...
I don't know him personally but from the TV interview he seems like a really nice young gentleman. Just sayin'...
Oh yeah the final score was OU 44, KU 7
They shouldn’t have benched him or Gordon last week or they both may have reached 500. Guns up.
I am dating myself, but I was barely in school when I saw Tony Sands set the record in 1991.
He averaged 12.5 yards per carry. Against KU, but still an amazing performance by the freshman.
Go K-State!!
That’s a shame; it looked like they were turning it around against TCU last week.
You might wanna try sumpin like this...if only for variety, of course:
Oklahoma is a racist name and the NCAA should force them to change it.
Samaje was not the starter today. He came in on the second offensive series. The starter fumbled a couple of times, so he got the call. Today’s game was played in driving rain. I remember when he got on campus, he went into the weight room with a bunch of Seniors; mostly linemen. He overwhelmed them all by benching 450 lbs. He lifted almost twice his body weight. He is a tank. Defensive players (Texas Tech and Kansas) looked for ways to avoid hitting him after the first quarter. He is that punishing. They let him go by, and then tried to tackle him from the rear.
The man is a tank.
Gwjack
P.S. Gordon’s record set last week was for 408 yards. Perine’s is 427 + 1 reception for 19 yards.
The record should have an asterisk. After all it was against KU.
Great for him, and he seems to be a really great guy. You would never know he was a freshman or even in college the way he handles himself.
The coaching staff is a whole different matter. Without Perine they would have lost no doubt about it. A true one man show if there ever was one.
All those kind of records are set against * teams.
I vote to changing it to Obamasucks.
The records are the only reason they stayed it. Pretty good reason.
I remember Tony Dorsett.. Beyond that, its a haze..

Boomer!.... Sooner! :-)
Well at least you did not direct me to Adult Friend Finder!
On the other hand he set the record against Kansas. That’s like running against no defense at all.
No, that would have been another team from the southwest part of the conference. Coach Wilkinson always said to never disparage the competition, at least not by name...
